Quick update, they bobtailed me yet another 170 miles to a Walmart DC and I was finally able to get an empty. One of the nice new ones too. Then, another 60 miles to actuallymstart my load, which was a drop and hook. Now, I have a VERY old Central trailer. Even by Central Trailer standards it is an older one! Oh well. The connection to the trailer was kind of flaky, but I thought I had it working. However, as soon as I got on the road the lights started flickering on and off, mostly off. Pulled into a TA about 20 miles down the road and now waiting for On Road. If they haven't gotten back to me in the morning, I might just see about replacing the trailer connector myself. I was an electronics tech for 15 years. Just unsure if I have the tools I'd need with me. And, as a driver, not really my job to fix it. But, in a pinch, I got this one way or another!!!

It's the law of the drop and hook gods
... Drop, pick up a brand new mt, just to haul it 50 miles to your next load, that's in a crap trailer.

I come off home time tomorrow with a load to Chicago. Not looking forward to delivering there but it gives me a few more miles this week.

    Today was turkey day.
A nice 18 pound turkey was on the table tonight.

I appreciate you sharing your journey with us. I hope to go to their school too this summer. I want to ask, do they train you in a manual transmission? And how many gears does it have? I've never driven a manual transmission before. I hope to learn as much as possible before I sign up.

Last I heard they still used manual for training, but I don't know if that has changed.
If so, it is probably a 10 speed.

Learning manual in a car first won't help you all that much. The two are very different in some ways.
Might be best to just learn it as you will be using it.

Are there any manual trucks still in the fleet?
If so, they will soon be phased out.

    I have a '17, and I think the auto's began in '16.
Swift doesn't keep trucks more than 4 years or so.
