I'm outta here!!!!! Got a load P/U in Golden, Del Albany, GA. Empties from Coors... I suspect it is a "feel bad" load that goes through Memphis for a possible Face-to-Face. Hopefully a sign of things to come... May I never return to Denver without a backup run. The load JIT load has an extra day and a half to delivery so I will be stopping off a the house to P/U some goodies and probably meet with the Powers That Be.

Hopefully your back haul from this won't be Denver. I heard from a few of the drivers it's really pretty out there obviously not from where you we're parked from the sounds of it.

I delivered in Albany, GA 1/08 and missed getting to meet OldNewbie during P/U at P&G in Albany, GA. Delivered to Gordonsville, VA 1/09 and P/U 1/10 Winchester, VA Del. 1/10 Virginia Beach, VA. Next run P/U Suffolk, VA and Del Jacksonville, FL. Looks like someone hit the "Run this guy to death" button and I couldn't be happier. I hope they do try to run me until I break 'cause that ain't gonna happen, but I will enjoy the miles in the meantime. Maybe my phone calls actually got the attention of those whose attention needed to be gotten and I will get steady miles for awhile.

Meanwhile... lovely weather we are having. I'm about to get the privilege of driving down I-95 through the tail end of the mess. At least 95 is flat.

Thanks to Injun, OtherhalfTW, and all those who have given me advice during the "adventure" I have recently had with my DM and Memphis. As I told my FM when we spoke, it is a good thing I have this site as a resource and encourage those looking to go with Swift and those already here to pay attention. Without the knowledge gleaned from those willing to share, I would have had a way worse time navigating the murky waters of late. And a BIG THANKS again to Injun... without her I would have never found the Denver Terminal. So pay attention Newbies, myself included!!!

I've got a practical/simple question about this whole process I'm curious about--what's the first day you actually began as a paid employee? Was it when you started with you mentor? I'm assuming there's no compensation provided during the academy period right? (Aside from lodging)

Really enjoying your updates. I've been thinking about doing this for awhile, but, there's always questions.

Your first paid day is your first day on your mentor's truck. There is no compensation during The Academy, Swift will give you a side loan to cover the cost of lodging.

Speaking of getting paid on mentors truck, I'm in my third almost fourth week and still getting 450 before tax. Is it after the second or fourth week when you get 500?
    How's the miles Fewe?
