I just typed up a whole write up on my current situation and tried to post it and got an error message so I'll try again.

The PornStar is having "one of those days" and has decided not to move any further under her own power. The Warn Engine light came on while going up a hill and the truck lost all power. I tried to downshift and had difficulty because the engine would not rev. I coasted to a stop on the shoulder and the truck idled at 1,000 RPM. When the accelerator was depressed it will only rev to 1,200 RPM. So here I sit on I-64 WB waiting for a repower for my trailer then a tow to Lexington.

I called on-road and my girl is gonna spend some time with the boys at the International Dealer in Lexington, KY. This is the first misstep The PornStar has had in our 9 months together so I guess I can forgive her this one time. Yet another experience on the road of life. I will miss out on 80 miles from this trip and 800 for the load I was supposed to pick up in the A.M. but "them's the breaks" as they say!!!

In the words of bill and Ted, that's bogus! 9 months is a pretty good run though, I'm entering month 7 with no issues on mine. Knock on wood.

Almost sounds like it needs a 'regen'... but don't take my word for it - but with the little reading I've done, that's what it sounds like. Does your ProStar use DEF - I think when I was reading up on that is where I read it...

Regen and DEF are mutually exclusive but you are on the right track. The dealer hooked up his laptop last night and pulled 2 1/2 pages worth of codes from the ECU. Most were old codes from check engines past but 2 were recent. He guessed that the aftertreatment injector was probably bad and some sensor was probably also shot. If the injector is bad the system would be unable to regen since the injector puts fuel into the exhaust system to bring up the temperature in the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) to burn off the NOx captured there during normal operation. The newfangled DEF is a replacement for the DPF, which can clog. It is a urea based fluid that treats the exhaust continuously, thus negating the need for a filter.

Headed over now to get an update. When I called this morning they said they would call when they found something, but no word yet.

Well, at least I got some exercise... "The problem is probably on the exhaust side, parts are on order, probably be ready tomorrow". So I'll be spending at least one more night in Lexington. Heres hoping the old girl feels better in the morrow.

Fewe: Tell them to check the connection between the front and back halves of the wiring harness to the DPF system. If your problem started after your truck got wet from rain or a wash, it may have leaked. It may need to have that electronic dry-up spray stuff sprayed into it and then sealed with silicon.

    It happened to me.

It doesn't seem to be weather related. I think it has been coming on for a while now. The Warn Engine light comes on fairly regularly, mostly while running heavy through the mountains. The temp. gauges never get too high, but most times the light comes on it is following or during a long climb while 70,000+ lbs. I have turned it into the Memphis shop just about everytime I have gone on hometime and they haven't fixed the problem in 9 months. It never had any obvious negative effects on drivability until yesterday. I was on a moderate 8th gear hill when the truck suddenly lost power and went into what I presume to be a forced regen-like condition. Hopefully the shop can get the problem fixed in the morning. 'Til then, I'll enjoy my 34 channels of cable TV and free wifi.

Compared to some nightmare stories I have heard about truck reliability, I will take this in stride and just consider it a "spa day" for The PornStar. She has worked hard for me and hasn't let me down thus far so I think a short vacation is in order.

lol a spa day. That is a unique relationship you have with your truck, I won't lie I talk to mine sometimes, she's sensitive about being called "big".
