Gonna start this to document my training and Swift driving career to help others.
Well look like I got accepted into Swift Driver Academy. Took about a total of 3 days to get accepted. Crege is my recruiter. He asked if I wanted to attend training before or after Christmas. But if I go before I wont make it home for Christmas from what he says. I still havent made up my mind but I really dont want to miss Christmas so I may wait till after. I still need to get my permit and I get my Dot physical before I attend Millington so that will give me enough time to get ready and get everything ready. Im very excited. My recruiter has been upfront to my questions and been very helpful !! I have driven a truck before and know how to shift and downshift and double clutch and do a good bit of backing but its been close to 2 years sense my last time so im sure im rusty. Once I get the ball rolling and get to the school I will do some video vlogging about my experience and taking plenty of pictures to post back here. Would love to hear from other Millington students on how their experience has been !
Anyone have any tips for training,Millington, the school,Swift, etc?
Anyone know where the hotel they use is located?
What aminties does the hotel have inside the room?
What are some of the near by grocery stores/restaurants ?

Hotel is kind of a dive but does have a kitchen in the room so you can cook, just kinda cramped for the 4 people they put in a room. There is a grocery store a couple blocks south, a Fred's Pharmacy across the street and a Walmart about a mile down the road. As far as restaraunts there is a Ryan's steak place next door and Subway near the grocery store, Sonic is a couple blocks and a Mexican place not too far.
Jeepwj02 Thanks this. -
Good luck and we will see ya out on the road......

The staff will warn you at the milington road range that any videos taken is unacceptable; especially ones where staff members are in them. One guy got busted big time for this. The class room instructors are nice. Horus and Anthony are their names. Horus can be a hoot and so can Anthony. The hotel, Admiralty Inn had ant problems when I was there 7-8 months ago. They do have kitchens and fridges and come stocked with pots and pans.

Good Luck... I am in the Swift San Antonio Academy now. I am having a blast. The instructors are great and funny. People are friendly. They just don't tolerate bad physicals, failing pee test and criminal background issues. They are very strict here and require us to act professional. The current professor requires us to straighten our chairs and is strict on other things, but he is a great instructor and teaches me a lot....

I too am headed to millington for school, I start on Jan 2, 2012. My recruiter(Summer) said even though i already have a dot physical card I will need $40 for the swift physical on the first day of class. Unless the physical is required to get your class A permit i would probably wait til i get to Tn. for that. Or at least have your recruiter double check, no need to waste money for two physicals.
Also I got approved for the academy quickly, but it took six weeks to get me an actual start date, due to the limited number of openings in class and high number of applicants. Good luck and maybe we will meet in Tn.
