If a lot of newbies knew about this sight, a lot of companies, especially those with bad reputations, would have a devil of a time attracting any recruits at all, whether they be good, bad, or in between.

with all due respect to the OP, i wonder how many posts like this are made a day ??

when Semi Retired said it was a life style, i agree....many would not now a days....

trucking is like life, its what you make of it.. there is crap in life in general, you can choose to let it get you down, and complain and be mad , (been there done that ) or you can make the best of it...there is NO perfect job out there...truckin was a love/hate relationship for me...

i love to drive, love the scenery , love the fun i USED to have...but a lot i dont miss too....

Or, and this sounds crazy I know, but people could research what they're going into, determine what company they want to go to before attending school, pay for it themselves or apply for one of any number of scholarships and grants, and start off from day one making 50 or 60k a year.

With all the information available through sites like this, I have little sympathy for people who rush headlong into a crap job.

    David-
thats where my trucking school portion of they comment came from. I think the reason they are angry is because they realize they are mad at themselves for not researching things first.

It seems odd but how does one research something that they can't understand or know if they like until they are actually doing it.

I guess it is like trying to explain what color is like to someone who is blind.

This has been the easiest job I've had in my life, the problem with it is that the ease is not with the driving, not with the waiting or anything like that but it is my other professional drivers, and those who are not professional who don't want to do much to improve our industry.

I appreciate your honesty. I will be starting Prime's orientation next week. So any help from someone in the business like yourself is important to consider. I am not going into it with Rosé colored glasses, my brother has been a Trucker for many years and is giving me great advice.
Just wanted to Thank You for taking the time to write what you did for us NEWBIES!

Hi Chareese, there you go. See, that's different, trucking is in your family, so you have an idea what it's about. It's when people from totally unrelated backgrounds go into it and don't have a clue what trucking is like, but just need a job, is when the problems come in. Best of luck to you.

If you could give me your opinion, along with anyone else....do you know anything about Prime Truckings training school?
I am reading some posts saying its a scam and not enough driving instructors for the amount of students they have. A little worried because I will be starting with them in a week. I do not have my CDL that's why I chose Prime. I am not worried about home time and don't care about how many days out. Just wanna know after the orientation I will be able to get in a truck with a trainer. Thanks

Chareese prime is a good company. You're already at their door step. Go in with open mind and learn as much as you can.
Take it easy, you'll do allright in there. Their facility in springfield is nice and you'll be driving trouble-free nice equipment. Enjoy

    Chareese Thanks this.
