thanks dewey...i am really nervous about cre since i have heard more bad than good...i am no stranger to getting screwed by two ex-wives a couple of factory jobs that just totally sucked...i have always wanted to drive and see the country...crap i do that now just to go see two kids i have living in indiana...i am still debateing on whether to go with them or not....i have a belief where there is little smoke it may be a cigerette and where there is a lot of smoke there is some mighty big flames...

All the students I had who went company are all still with CRE. Most of them are roughly making a grand a week. -

I agree with the other driver. Just because you like the company that you work with, doesn't mean you're a recruiter. I'm with England, and I don't have any complaints at present. I went through the school in Cedar Hills, TX, and it's very fast paced! Only those that want to succeed will succeed. That means having the mental fortitude to do what you need to do! Students don't get brought to the training schools to party, it's on-the-job training, and it's not easy. Part of the reason why is so that the company can send folks home who can't handle it, while keeping the "cream of the crop" in what they have to work with.
When I went to school, there were people who failed the drug screen, people who couldn't climb up into the trailer, people who would rather stand around and smoke as opposed to study or get into the trucks to practice.... It really all boils down to how dedicated and responsible you are. If you want it bad enough to make it a reality, your actions will prove it. Don't be too proud to ask for help when you need it, and don't pay attention to the "super truckers". It's your life, you don't get a reset button, make it happen!zdutch1 Thanks this. -
mhintz15...don't believe what anyone tells you. Whatever you do DO NOT sign a lease until you have at least a year as a company driver. I drove for CRE for 5yrs as a lease driver/trainer. I will tell you what, your DM won't give you give the miles you need to make a $500 a week truck payment. If you do you might be able to take home a whopping $120 a week for a paycheck. The only way you can make the money is to run as a trainer or team. I know carrot top is a recruiter and is prob on their payrol getting paid under the table to promote the company but take it from someone who is not being paid and has gone thru that.

Roger is right in that you should be a company driver first, if you are even going to consider leasing (which is where I'm at now). That will help you to get an idea of what to expect regarding the lifestyle on the road, the costs involved, and what it takes. Don't jump into such a big commitment on impulse, and take the time to learn everything you can. If you can be a second seat for a lease operator or an owner operator, even better before you make that leap.

what you also have to remember is that it's hard to compare apples to apples, because who ever you talk to will be at different stages in the company and their lease.
for example someone like me had a better deal in my opinion with the lease than the people after me. but the people before me like the trainer I had had a better deal than me. for example his truck payment was higher than mine but his variable mileage was lower. and the people that signed a lease after me had a higher payment than me.but when you get a new truck most likely your payment will go up. but the awards program stays with you or what ever deal you had in your lease gets put in to your new contract.
like if you bought down your variable mileage, you would have the same rate. or if your truck was a 70 something mile an hour truck than you are grand fathered at that.
like when I end up going back to CR England I will have the same deal that I had before like .06 variable millage, 72 mph truck, free book keeping, and my status was level 11 in the awards program, because I don't loose them.
also keep in mind that I was a phase 1 lease op trainer. which means that the profit from the truck was not for 2 people. I only had to pay half of the student's pay and England paid the rest.
I was on the fuel cap at $ 1.25 a gal I was getting anywhere between 6-7 mpg but I believe I avg 6.5 (because 6.5mpg is what I used to figure how much fuel to buy for a trip) some people said that I should figure what I was actually getting and I would have maid more money on certain loads, but I liked to be consistent. so I figured 6.5 on heavy loads and the same on light loads. as long as I was at 1/4 tank at the end of the trip I was good. -

Now that said, my Phase I trainer had been with CRE for 10 years and was on his 4the lease. That was 3 years ago and he is still at CRE ... But he had a sweet gig with a coast to coast dedicated run and a 34hr reset at home every week. But I don't know how he is going to make out now, that CRE is forcing their I/Cs off of dedicated and out to OTR.Rumblestrip and Dewey120 Thank this.
