And that is exactly why Elogs are being forced on everybody. So they can hire those that can't do simple math. But you see here, even with Elogs, it won't work if you don't know what you are doing. Paper logs should be taught first, then if you want to use a computer at least you would have a clue that something was wrong before it was too late.

amazing how something as crucial as driver logs is not stressed in trucking school. Good grief.

Do yourself a favor and get another trainer. Tell the training department what is going on and see if they will get you another trainer who knows his stuff. It sounds like your training is using you for miles and that aint right. You need to actually learn so once you get released, you do not get any fines or violations or even worse; put oos.

Paper logs ARE supposed to be taught first, since we have to use them if the e-log goes down.

It's not a matter of being able to hire stupid people.
It's more the matter of letting stupid and lazy people become trainers.

I have not down elogs and has been said already but feel like saying it again
1 trainer used your hours to drive and tried to play dumb
2 forgot to log to proper line when swapping drivers
3 you ran 68 hours already on your 70 in 8 or 58 on your 60 in 7 and didnt realize it

Either way your training at crE wasnt profecient enough for you to grasp e-logs and its methods and your trainer who has been supposedly training for 10 years has IDCA (i dont care 4 no one but me attitude) or isnt used to training with e-logs yet and doesnt look over your driver logs as he should as a trainer to make sure your getting it.

when i started back in 06 my trainer looked over my driver logs and showed me a few things that wasnt taught in my school ( as its not really legal ways but still) when i get back out on the road i may get to try out the whole e-log thing.

dont call and cry to DM about trainer sit down and talk with him about it and get him to assist you on them as it is what he is paid for.
if he refuses to help you or fails to help you than its time to call the DM about it (you may not want to tell ur trainer about calling the DM until you have to)

If it was something as simple as forgetting to log off line 4 then it can be edited, and you will can be on your way.

If your trainer forgot to log out and drove under your log...a quick phone call your elog dept can get that corrected and on your way.

If you have 68 on duty hours...well you have to wait to see what comes back at midnight. Your trainer screwed up for not checking and you need to know your hours as well

Don't let him do any of your logs for you. Do everything that's yours yourself. That way you'll learn and protect your butt at the same time.
