Yeah Wally World I never go there never thing to go there and am really unsure of what the fascination of that place is. Gordon's has there own chain of grocery stores in the mid-west/atlantic and Florida and our food is way better then anything you could buy at Wal-Mart and price wise were just hare more expensive then Sam's Club. As an employee I get discounts on food from our grocery stores so actually it doesn't even pay for me to be a member of Sam's or Costco.

I read an article on line about Wally world and people are always complaining about the low quality good, lack of choices and bad service and I really have to wonder why they keep going there, and it's even gotten to the point now where people go "You know the local Wally world just had a price hike and the advantage of going there over anywhere else really is pretty negligible." Yahoo just had an article on Wally wold discontinuing it's organic line and price first line.

I would say that although I'm not a fan of grocery warehouses I used to do wakefern/ shoprite weekly in keasby and they never seemed short of business , even taking deliveries on holidays ....the supervalues and others of the world better change their ways if they're going to compete with wal mart .

Yeah, it certainly could happen. Now I'm not a Walmart basher, as anyone who has read my posts knows. Because what I see, is that merchants are either too lazy, or too stupid to be competitive. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, there is a large percentage of the population who would far rather shop at a supermarket than they would at Walmart. If they could get better, more personalized service! I have absolutely NO SYMPATHY for a store that is "put out of business by Walmart." BALONEY, Walmart didn't put them out of business, THEY PUT THEMSELVES OUT OF BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY QUIT TRYING. Of course they can't compete with Walmart's prices. So offer the public something they might like, such as a nice big smile and a warm greeting. Code dates that are not outdated, if someone needs something they don't have, then GET IT FOR THEM.
That being said, I'm not too keen on seeing Walmart go into their own dairy business. What is next, Walmart farms, Walmart ranches? Very possibly.
As far as the non-foods goes, if you are going to shop Walmart, then you'd better be prepared to settle for Walmart quality. Lots of things it doesn't make any difference with. But watch what you're doing. That "GREAT DEAL" on an appliance or electronic gadget, may be the worst deal you ever got...

As far as dairy's Reiter Dairy here in Ohio was purchased by Deans and Dean's has Dairy Pure, Country Fresh, Reiter and probably some others those are all Dean's brands.

Dairymen's here in Cleveland was bought out by Borden Dairy in 2002, but Borden according to a Dairymen's driver has been very very very reluctant to get rid of the Dairymen's name or even make it look like they bought the company out at all, it wasn't until a couple years ago that Borden even put there name on the doors of the trucks. They said Borden I guess bought out a big local dairy in Florida a few years back and they went full boar and rebranded everything and the consumers didn't like that one bit and it way back fired on Borden and they got really really hurt in the pocket book really bad. Lost a ton of sales.

So when they bought out Dairymen's they said Dairymen's has been in Cleveland and Ohio forever has a huge following if we kill off that name will probably end up losing a lot of customers and sales so they said forget it nobody want's us here in Cleveland they all want Dairymen's no reason to rock the boat. So Else the cow isn't going to be making an appearance in Cleveland anytime soon .

The guys who work for Dairymen's the trailers all say Dairymen's and there uniforms all say Dairymen's they said Borden wouldn't even buy new uniforms I think the invoices even still say Dairymen's and so do the sings and posters.

I know sometimes these companies go into business and then end up getting out of them too. I mean it happens it all looks good on paper and then they realize it's to much trouble and drop it a few years down the pike. Like didn't CF get into the air freight business years and years ago and it ended up being a terrible investment for them.

I mean Wal-Mart has had some ups and downs too they had there dollar store concept which didn't really take. Now granted some of that was just an experiment or test on there end. I see what your saying they start there own milk plant and then see how it does see what they get and then go from there.

Like GFS bought out Market Day they owned them for a while not any more GFS got out of that business last year they didn't really lose anything on it I don't think, but it wasn't what they though either and they sold it off.

The reason why Wally does so good is because their a ONE stop shop for all your needs. Why spend gas going to a retail, grocery, auto repair, etc., when it can ALL be done in one place.

Is Kemps owned by someone else? I see some of Kemps products here in Ohio, but they must be getting distribution through someone else, because I know they don't deliver here in Ohio.

Yes, there is and always will be that fact. But I can remember way back in the '60's when a fella named Lloyd King started an outfit called KING SUPERS. One of, if not the first supermarket chain in Colorado. And he had a whole lot of stuff besides groceries. Many other supermarkets have imitated this. (Of course, for all I know, King was imitating some big chain that just wasn't in Colorado....)
And then the "discount" stores came into being. K-Mart was certainly a leader back in its heyday. Walmart was just one of many. But the Waltons had a winner there, and they knew what to do with it. Back then, the discount stores didn't handle groceries, unless perhaps they got a good deal on some freight damaged stuff.
