Now THAT'S a big radio!
Yo don't need a 75" sleeper! If it's just you in the truck and you have the "needed " tings plus a little more a regular sized sleeper will work. I f you decide to go bigger you will have fewer companies to choose from due to the length of the tractor and when you get over the 338" mark they start to get choosy! Also if you get your own authority the wheelbase will demand a little more money and limit you as said before to certain areas. with most of the big cities wanting more money for permits covering from bumper to bumper and right now just these FL Columbia's can get fined because with a 53" trailer they can be 76'5" if set correctly! IN NYC that's 8 feet to long! The permit is actually more expensive over the ticket you get if you only make 1 trip in!JustSonny Thanks this. -
Thanks Rollover,
Now I understand why I don't see the big sleepers very often. They're more trouble (and more expensive to operate) than they're worth! I got it now!

I'm just wondering how easy it is to get a good night's sleep with rigs coming in at all hours of the day and night. I can get used to just about anything (I live 3 blocks from a busy railroad track) but I have thought a good bit about how important rest is and the noise rigs make. Tell me about it please!

I sleep good in my truck. I try to never park next to a reefer unit. If it is hot or cold out I leave the truck running. The motor blocks out a lot of the outside noise.
When sleeping in a rest area I try to avoid the side parking on the enterence and exit ramps. Some times the traffic coming in and out of the rest area bothers me if I am parked on the ramps. The Challenger and JustSonny Thank this. -
Unlike Wayne...I park (In Cali anyways) between two reefers...or as I like to call it "Reefers in stereo"
Especially if it's hot, so they're running constantly... Puts me to sleep and also when I need to idle...CARB can't hear my truck running........simplyred1962, GuysLady, kajidono and 4 others Thank this. -

Whenever I park, it can be right next to a reefer, with my truck idling and all my
windows up I don't hear anything except whatever is inside of my cab. There can
be 3 empty spots on both sides of me and trucks can come and park and open and
close doors all night I'll never hear them.
I actually find that I sleep better in my rig than in my bed at home, they gentle
vibrations help me sleep. Don't get me wrong though after awhile of being on
the road I'm ready to sleep at home.Working Class Patriot, Big Don, RACEFAN and 1 other person Thank this. -
I sleep better in my truck than at home. However, I'll take our oldest, loudest reefer any day to trying to go to sleep when my 2 heathen children have decided they want to be up all day and night.
I love my kids, I do, but any parent can agree with the above statement.JustSonny Thanks this. -
I actually slept better in my truck than I did at home. I set the idle about 900 rpm's and slept like a baby!! When I got home I had a hard time going to sleep because it was soooooo quite! I sleep real good at home now though. My wife threatened to put a motor under the bed when I retired because I was so restless. Better now. Oh wait a minute- I think the reefer just shut off. AW shuttup and go to sleep. That was the furnace shutting off. Guess you never really get off the road.
JustSonny Thanks this.
