Well it was a good week, we worked on polishing our backing skills mostly, with some road driving earlier in the week. I got another good score on my written test this week as well. I have heard back from Willis Shaw they were doing my background check, said all looked good and they are just waiting on me too graduate. I have not heard from Howard thier recruiter is on vacation and will not be back untill monday. My instructor got a email from a couple he trained that are with KLLM and from what they said KLLM is pushing the lease very hard and giving lease drivers the best miles, i do not want to lease at this time so i think i will avoid that. I ha dsent a ap in to Trans Am but have not heard anything from them either. We may be finishing a week early according to the instructor he said we are doing very well. I know I am ready to get to work.
JustSonny and The Challenger Thank this. -

Well week 6 is finished, mostly we worked on polishing our backing skills, and we did some driving in heavy traffic. All going well so far. I do get a little frusterated with the other students because they think everything will go by the "book' and be perfect. they have done no real research into the industry at all. one of the statements i heard was "I am not going to worry about driving in traffic much because I will just stay on the freeways untii I reach my delivery." Another one was "you mean we have to worry about what our truck weigh i thought that was the loaders job?" When you try to tell them how it will really be you get the deer in the headlights look. Oh well they will get a severe reallity check soon enough i suppose. Any way I aced this weeks written test, and am doing real good in the trucks, 1 more full week of school then we test the following week. We had a Schnieder recruiter come in yesterday. If most of what he had to say is close to true it might not be to bad a place to get started. right now it looks like I will go with Willis Shaw though when i get out of school.

Pumpkin is 10 times better than Shaw IMHO.................
The Challenger and beboppinbigun1 Thank this. -
Longtime no post.
I am genuinely interested in why you feel Pumpkin is 10x better than WSE...more miles, better pay, ??? 10x is a huge difference.
FYI, I am headed back to WSE on Monday. Long story.
Downside is, without having sat in the seat 6 months, they are putting me through their training regimen again. No biggie in the long run...got the same trainer...we should be able to cover the miles pretty quickly...just stinks that I have to do it. For me it works because they have a yard here in Jax and makes getting home easier.
Gonna do my best to sit in the seat for at least the full year this time...seems that most decent companies want 1-2 yrs and since I already left once, I don't want to be classified as "jumpy". Although, hopefully the fact that I am returning to the same company will matter for something.
Question...what is "verifiable" OTR? How do companies or a driver verify one's OTR experience? -
Didn't mean to hijack the thread...I just realized that after I posted.
