I know who you’re talking about and I had the pleasure meeting him on the first day when we went to the range to do an actual practice pre-trip. Very nice guy, but very strict from what I have heard from people who have taken the test with him as an examiner.

So I have an interview next Monday with a company out of Dade city.
-
-
So I went and I visited the trucking company over in Dade city. They require you to leave their truck over in the yard while you’re at home. For me driving 2 1/2 hours there and driving 2 1/2 hours back may be a dealbreaker. What are your thoughts?
-
Depends on how long you stay out. I’m only gone 5 days a week so dealbreaker for me. At least parked at the yard no worries about theft or some arse hat knocking the front end off.

At this point -- of MUCH BIGGER CONCERN for you -- besides the question in post #194 above: in 6-9 months from now -- will this carrier over in Dade City still have enough loads for even rookies like you to consistently pull ?
You need to find a carrier who will properly train you....and ALSO keep you for-sure busy for AT LEAST ONE YEAR (so you can stay there).
To your above query: I drove home weekly from Atlanta intermodal for OVER A YEAR. My commute to/from was a little over 3 1/2 hours--one way. I did that because I knew...the longer I kept that job--the better I would look to future employers, later....

Definite deal breaker for me, I hate the thought of commuting especially if you’re headed south out of Dade city, 2.5 hours can turn to five real quick, ask me how I know? I turn fort Myers back to jax on a regular and it has become absolutely unbearable. Just move to Dade city?

So I am graduating from Sage on May 18. I was told by my recruiter at Indian River to call him on 10 May.
compared to my earlier experience at roadmaster, I must say that sage is a better option. For those considering truck, driving school, please consider Sage in Fort Pierce.
