I'm a bit north of 50 years old and only recently did I discover people with autism were not what I expected. I dealt with a security guard multiple times per day for 2 years before he told me he had autism. I NEVER suspected it.
In that same time frame, one of my co-workers and I talked on a weekly basis and he frequently mentioned his "autistic son" (his words, not mine). I finally got the chance to meet the young man and had his father not said anything about the autism, I would have never known.
The point is, you're right. Most people have little to no understanding of autism.

it looks more like tickets.[/QUOTE]
I don't know anything about autism except for what little they taught us when I was getting my EMT. I still don't know enough to be making judgements about people who deal with it every day.
The OP will have to ask himself if honesty is always the best policy. -
I did have an option out of Wisconsin apart from Kennesaw. Also, I’m supposed to hear back from another company tomorrow.
I would move out of state if I could, but I have personal reasons that prohibit me from doing so at this time. I have a clean criminal record and last year was just a bad year for me before I got my CDL again.
I do know one thing, and that is it made me realize to never ever get a red vehicle again. That was one of the reason why I traded my vehicle apart from some thing I needed for good fuel economy, and that’s a good vehicle that comfortably seats four people.
I have a sister who has a vehicle that’s on its way out the door if you get my gist. so with that being said, if I find a job, that’s over the road and I can be in Florida at the same time I mean, based out of Florida, she can have my vehicle and give it to her soon to be ex-husband. -
This is tough industry

I would like to recognize a company that wanted to help me out if I could get find a way to get to them or find a way to get into their freight lanes.
J Bauer Transportation out of Wisconsin. I talked to the gentleman who does the recruiting and trains, the trainees locally. From my understanding and my talking with the gentleman, you have to interview with the owner and have a way to get to Wisconsin to do so. The company is in between Minneapolis and Central Wisconsin airport.
I’m mentioning this company, because they were one of the few to at least hear me out and we’re willing to work with me. Hopefully someone can take the information and this post and work for this company because from an outsiders point of view, everybody is pleasant to talk to and were not BSing you like typical recruiters.Gearjammin' Penguin and 88 Alpha Thank this. -
Oxbow and CalculatedRisk Thank this.

Applied at Jones Brother transportation, Thompson Transport, and for a local gas hauling position at Eagle. I still need to get my hazmat and Twic.
88 Alpha Thanks this. -
Got turned down by Jones Brother transport.
so today I went in and talked to my bosses and they told me that it’s the slow season for moving companies or at least for the company I work for. The season will not pick up until March as they say. My current employer knows I’m looking for a truck driving job and my question to a couple friends of mine was who is going to hire me until I find said truck driving job?
i’m glad that my bosses were being honest with me. To me honesty goes a long way. In case anybody is tuning into this thread, I work in a warehouse doing the basic stuff. I’m not to criticize my job because it pays my bills: barely.
so, with that being said, I’m not too sure if I’m going to get laid off or if I do get laid off, whether I’m entitled to unemployment. -
Like myself and others have tried to tell you no one is going to hire you with the problems you have with your driving record. Wait till that stuff falls off and you might have a chance. If you are drawing disability go get a regular job and you’ll be fine. Probably make more than at any of the entry level driving jobs you’ve applied for. You put the cart before the horse by going through school before you got this stuff cleaned up.
