Well guys, I’ve been pointed in the right direction for a couple of jobs and hopefully they pan out.
About a couple months ago, I applied for Trans Am and turned that one down because of problems going in my personal life.
In addition they didn’t have training program other than a one week orientation. Now they change their hiring area to Orlando, and above.
I am determined enough to find something. Trust me when I say I will find a good job where I have to stick it out for my first year whether I have to be put on the list for a trainer so on and so forth.
last but not least, for those considering Thompson Inc., they have a nine week out list meaning that they just hired a couple students from all over the place and according to the safety guy the next time he can bring on a student is around nine weeks.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -

I have some interesting news regarding my now former job. I had a conflict this morning at my job where it led to me submitting my two weeks notice this afternoon at the recommendation of my family.
So tomorrow I have an interview with Arby’s just to put money on the table until I can go forward with my dream of becoming an over the road Truck Driver.
That was not gonna happen where I was working. It’s a sad situation and honestly, I feel like a weight was lifted off me and I will miss working in the moving industry. I learned a lot and laborers definitely earned my respect. I don’t want to put the whole entire story out because I’m not too sure if my former boss monitors this forum. I will say that I was not used to my full potential.Last edited: Oct 6, 2023
Speed_Drums and 88 Alpha Thank this. -
I applied for a local truck driving job over at Beyel Brothers. I will know more on Monday and Tuesday because I have a couple of personal doctors appointments that I need to attend to. Until something pops up, all I can do is update you guys on what I’m finding out from companies. I will make a new post of that.

so here is the 411 on Brevard County right now.
Schneider has the Damiler Jetset position open to all CDL holders.
Trans Am closed brevard County due to lack of freight
Cypress wants no accidents on your MVR. Same with Benny Whitehead Inc.
Steven’s Transport: they want each of three years consecutive in the past five years where you made at least $10,000 per year from working a job
Windy Hill- they want you to have no accidents, and the truck gets parked over at Eustis terminal. They still want you to sign a one-year contract.
Indian River- they want full-time employment, and they want a clean MVR, though I’ve been told that the MVR is reviewed on a case by case basis.
CR England- the website claims they have student driver openings, though whenever you call recruiting, that is not the case
Leonard's express- they require you to go through the school up in Canandaigua.
Werner, Swift, Knight are being very picky on who they take on though they claim they have positions available in Brevard county. My reason was my MVR, so your best bet is to call recruiting.
CFI- Must go through an approved school, and Sage is not on there
The following carriers are not hiring in Brevard county:
Western Express, Roehl, J&R Shugel,Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
I’m not asking for help when I post this but I just wanna let you know what I went through since June:
The company where I worked at was described as a company where you get second chances in. I was told after a month they would evaluate me and give me a raise, which obviously never happened.
I asked to be put on their insurance so that I could drive and wanted to learn everything apart from picking up the trash, sweeping, picking up cigarette butts, answering the phones, so on and so forth.
I thought I had a rotator tear and went on light duty and physical therapy. One day the owner comes and ask me when he thinks I will be able to be in the warehouse. Keep in mind I went through physical therapy for four weeks and I was just not up to par on doing heavy duty lifting since my gastric sleeve surgery.
Anyways, when I got back to the warehouse, it was their slow season. I was working maybe 32 hour days. There were three other people on W-2s apart from myself. Shortly before the owner hired new office staff, my boss quit. I’m not gonna say why but she flat out quit and I understand why.
Only a couple people who were in the office were told to be my bosses, and the owner evidently did not think highly of me, because he would treat other people differently and talk to them differently. He would always have me do the worse jobs and would say I have better stuff to do when I asked him questions on whether I could learn or not so wanted it so forth.
It was during this time when my boss aka office secretary was employed that a certain contractor who is on 1099, started making threats to me. The owner reassured me that everything would be OK and so on and so forth.
my final straw was when I was picking up cigarette butts, this one employee flicked a lit one into the garbage can causing smoke to erupt. I put it out with my jug of water. I told him I would tell management because this was a safety hazard, and he threatened me for the third time. I completed my cigarette butt cleaning and drove down to the office and told them the next time I was being threatened I would simply call the cops.
After talking it over with my family, I decided unemployment was the better thing for me. I sent Inn a text and an email explaining that this work environment was simply not for me and as a result of today, they had my two week notice.
I’m not one to shy away from doing the lowest of the low jobs, but for the owners contractors to be talking behind my back, and to be making idle threats against me is simply unacceptable.
About an hour and a half after I submitted my notice I get a phone call from the new office manager saying that I didn’t need to submit my notice so wanted and so forth and that they would give me a good reference. My final paycheck is due this coming Friday and it’s not very much. But not very much. I’m talking right around maybe $40 tops.
I was the lowest paid employee and I was paid $12 an hour. There were times that I was constantly talked down upon by the owner of the company who thought he was better than bread. Last but not least, I had a clean background and offered them a tax break by providing proof of my challenges.
