What Aftershock has said is true. However when you consider their business model it is not surprising.
It is akin to the old indentured servants coming over from England when America was young. A promise of a new life, independence and freedom from just about everything if you will just enslave yourself to me for x amount of time.

The folks who brought slaves to this country weren't too concerned about the comfort factor on those ships and if you died well never mind we will get another.
CRE really doesn't care about 1st impressions and I agree wholeheartedly that generally this would be a point to be taken seriously with the scarcity of drivers (supposedly). If your whole goal is to entice, trap and dispose it doesn't matter too much.
I drove for 3 days from Fort Lauderdale to Salt Lake City. I slept in my van with snow all around me in Wyoming. I was not alone in that endeavor. Once you get there it is not likely you are going to turn back. They gotcha! You are trapped!

Oft times people who have been led there by seeing the ads for "an office with the big view" etc etc. Folks who have no money and are desperate to start a new life hoping that trucking will solve their problems. I had one married couple in my 'class' that were quite literally homeless. Such nice people too. They failed the woman out of hand. They finally left and finished up her school somewhere else.
CRE feed on this, their advertising is geared to it. The reason they have such a whacking great office staff is to handle the vast influx of people everyday.
Crete is bigger than England and has much less staff. Go figure. Of course we don't have drivers quiting every 5 minutes and hordes of newcomers and trainees arriving every Monday!

Also let us not forget the "fear factor".
As you go through orientation any number of bozos will be wheeled in front of you. It is quite dizzying and I lost interest after about the 10th. Many of them will threaten firing either out and out or sideways. The fear is instilled that "can I make it" "am I good enough" etc etc.
I knew what was going on but just shut my mouth and went through all the claptrap. It is a man made blitzkrieg of meetings, lectures, paperwork, computer / qc stuff and general hurdles. All created to instill fear and keep a bunch of people in a job.
Without a doubt one of the most vivid memories I have of CRE was the number of ####y idiots who swaggered in (the head safety guy was best) letting me know that they would personally fire me if I strayed. What a joke. Insignificant worms with nothing jobs who were clinging to the trucking world by their fingernails because 'the good old days' had disappeared for them.
But other than that CRE is a great company.

BTW, snipping your most excellent post was a hard thing to do.
I did it in the interest of time conservation, not because I don't agree with or don't appreciate your inside view of the beast that calls itself C.R. England.
Well presented. Good job. Carry on.

Somebody on this thread asked how CRE could stay in business if they were that bad. So I went through this thread and made a mental note of all the hopefuls that have subsequently disappeared.
There are quite a few. Highlighted by an earlier post by Aftershock. He basically nailed it. They just fade to black don't they?
    Embarrassed I guess.
There are so many hard headed people around that think they know best, despite being told the real scoop by people who have actually worked there, that I am confident CRE will have no trouble at all filling those lease trucks with fresh steering wheel holding monkeys into the future ad infinitum.
Now I really am quiting this silly subject and going back to my regular Brit friends on the Thai forums. Just get me back to the wine women and song of Pattaya next January thats all I ask. Singha beer, pretty women, great food and a good laugh. Where is the plane?

Im starting to not believe that c.r.e is not so bad...i have talked to numerous drivers on the road who are leasing & are company driver, 1guy said he has been leasing for a over a year and after all the expenses are taken out he makes bout 900 a week and he gets home when he puts in for hometime, another guy said he went through there school too and he didnt have to lease, he went company got a brand new cascadia and he says he loves it, and he has been there over a year..im thinkin the people who complain are the 1's who sit around in truckstops allday everyday....thats jus what i have been told be actual england drivers i have ran across on the road.....everybody has there opinion i guess

$900.00 a week is chump change in contrast to all the responsibilities, expenses, and liabilities you have as a L/O. You could drop a clutch and be in the hole for two months. Take a week off and spend the next three months trying to get caught back up.

Believe what you wish, but there are too many bad post about this company.

thats was take home after taxes too, i mean u cant expect to make bookoo money leasing a truck, but i look at it as hey this guys not in the negative & he tells me he has no complaints, but i didnt see a big difference in income between the l/o & company driver, for what he's clearing he might as well be a company...but i would never lease a truck from a company never though, & yea that week off will throw u off, thats y i dont understand y lease when you will have to run ever week, & the only day u can pretty much have off is for your 34.....but i have been told by alot of company drivers that they love it there...#justmy2cents

i made 900 a week as a company driver when things were good a few years ago. couldnt imagine pulling my rig down the road for that. I just dropped 4g in tires not to long ago for my trailer....woulda had to have saved a long time at 900 a week.

A CRE solo L/O, averaging $900 take home, also makes an additional $200 a week that goes into into a maintenance account ... they would also have to be running 3000 miles a week and getting about 7.8 mpg.

Now if they are running a student/team ... $900 a week is pretty pitiful.
