Ok so the update you've all been waiting for apparently. Unlike you might think I did not fall of the Earth, and have no problem stating when I failed, and when I was screwed, and when there is a little of both.
From Day one the truck had electrical problems and other sorts of mess, which should have extended our warranty, of course it didn't. However I have it all nice and documented. See while I was with England I met some very poignant, intelligent and well spoken old timers. They taught me some nice tricks when it came to playing the game.
So let me recap what all happened with CRE and then I'll move forward. The Truck was a piece of crap, we lived off our advances, it was hard, we made it 7 months though, and got plenty of offers immediately from other companies. CRE tried to go after our DAC, but as I said before, I had, and have plenty of documentation to make them look like the b/sers that they are, so most companies just sort of rolled their eyes and said "Oh CRE up to their same OLD bull glad you got away from them." We ended up making one paycheck while we were with CRE, and have bills for back truck payments, but that is all.
We ended up going to USA Truck, not as driver oriented a company as I would like for me and my wife, but we run paper logs, and got a brand new ProStar, as in less than 1200 miles on it. Other than the fact they can't trip plan their way out of a wet paper sack, they are constantly late on loads because of it, and they are in a panic because of it, and thus their drivers take the brunt of it. They will do for getting us to one year, and we're discussing possibly 2 so we can go where ever we want.
The pay is half decent we haven't not gotten a paycheck yet, and as far as that goes our next stop will be a small company with less than 500 trucks. If we don't decide to have a family and I just slap a hazmat and tanker on my CDL and do local runs. Either way We didn't stop plugging away, and we're better for it.

I have to give you credit for sticking with it. USA might not have been the best chioce, Swift would be better IMO, but at least you are getting a paycheck. Keep everyone posted on your journeys. It appears you are determined, or you would not have made it as long as you did at CRE.
Good luck. -
Thanks for stepping up and coming back and letting us know how it went. My wife and I are getting ready to take the plunge and CR England was a strong final contender because of the husband wife not getting split clause. We're done with them though. I told my wife after reading all of these threads, and the 117 ripoffreport.com reports including 4 rape allegations that there is no way in hell we will EVER go with them. I'd rather clean outhouses for the rest of my life frankly.
Thank all of you for saving us a lot of potential heartache, misery, and financial disaster.AfterShock Thanks this. -
We left not because we were not making money, but because as we researched the industry we found we could make a heck of lot more by going with someone else. Not to mention CRE was simply a pain to deal with. I would rather work with a company where it isn't necessary to know "the tricks to play the game".
But, one net paycheck in 7 months? Even at CRE, running as team, I find that nearly incomprehensible.AfterShock Thanks this. -
Drama and Big truck truckin' don't mix real well.
Sorry to hear about your Chester & Son's trucking experience.
Glad to hear you'ved survived the ordeal. -
I still have friends there, if you find the right niche you can do better than OK.AfterShock Thanks this. -
Something I have never read yet about the fleece deal with CRE. I am guessing you are considered as a contractor, and receive a 1099 at the end of the year, or do they take out taxes like you are employed by them.
Read it somewhere on the forums that even though they look at you as a owner operator, you are not allowed to move the truck with out them telling you to do so? -
You can take the truck anywhere and anyplace you #### well please, you just have to pay for the fuel. But you can not pull anyone's else's freight, you have an exclusive contract to haul freight with CRE and you can't take any of thier trailers anywhere they don't want you to.AfterShock Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info.

My wife and I have been reading and following along with your story and are considering going through it. We have many concerns after reading your posts. But we are just as determined as you both seem to be. So we would like to take your advice in any case so we will be monitoring your progress. We need that light at the end of the tunnel, and we need to make it on our own. Your courage and honesty is GREATLY appreciated.
AfterShock Thanks this.
