Hello all,
Just a little update for you guys, for those who have sent me a pm I can't reply to you yet but I am wanting to, just don't have the required 7 posts since I am new on here.
Here is the story so far, we looked into several companies that offer training and after recommendations from people on the board and some research we chose Central Refrigerated.
We filled out the online application and called them the same day. The recruiter which happens to be a nice lady explained to us the entire process on how to get started with them to our satisfaction, sent us some paperwork and I was glad there wasn't any fine-print.
It's going to be a few weeks of training at their facility in Georgia where we will get our CDLs and then from there we will head out with our individual on the road trainers. At this point we will be apart for a few weeks, but when we get back together we will have our own truck. My wife will get to chose a female trainer if she feels more comfortable that way. The recruiter explained that they will room us together during the initial training since we are a couple, and that's always nice!
Today we received a message that everything was GO and to call them back with the date that we can start our training. Tonight we are calling them back with our starting date. We are excited!
Looking forward to sharing with you what happens next!!kvrariedner and mtnMoma Thank this. -

Today we called the recruiter back and set our starting date. We are starting on October 3rd. We were told to expect another phone call with all the final details anywhere between Sept 26-28. That's it for now, just waiting on a final phone call before we head out
mtnMoma Thanks this. -

I want to say I commend you and your wife for being fired up about your new career choice and I commend you both for taking the path YOU have chosen. I am sure you did a LOT of research and made a decision based on your research. I have been trying to get my wife out here for a while now and it looks like she is going to do just that..God willing. I wish you both the best and from all the research I have done, I believe you will enjoy the trip, if you keep a positive attitude, research and stay a part of this forum,,it is the best one in town..mtnMoma and TravelingMaga Thank this. -
Hope you keep us posted on your progress through Central. My wife and I are looking into Central, but won't be till the beginning of the year. Would like some insight on how training is there. Good luck.TravelingMaga Thanks this. -
Hi all I'm updating this from my phone so bear with me. We didn't received the phone call last week until last Friday. It turns out our recruiter had to take a leave of absense. The good news is that Central didn't leave us hanging. We were assigned a new recruiter that has been amazing, to tell you the truth I'm impressed, they more than made up for not calling us at the beginning of the week. We arrived at Conley today and went down to the terminal, lots of trucks and friendly people there. We feel welcome. Tomorrow we have to show up at 6am and the schedule has us there till after 5pm. So far so good!
