Well I always heard them refered to as rainbow scales since they are next to the town of Rainbow, CA next to Fallbrook and Temecula on I-15

yes, the rainbow scales are on I-15. that poster was mistaken.
The scales on I-5 are commonly referred to as the Pendleton Scales or sometimes the San Clemente scales, since they're just south of San Clemente on I-5 where it passes thru Camp Pendelton.

    Chewy352 Thanks this.

I miss the good old days. I got caught one time 8 hours behind at the Los Banos, CA scale, told to catch it up and no need to go back inside. Another time at the Mt Shasta scale I was 12 hours behind, same thing. No written warnings or anything. :biggrin_25519: Even the Banning scale treated me well.

That's only if they have been paying their bill. If not you know it cause you get red light at every weigh station. Even closed ones.

As Y2K has said, the Ridgefield coop doesn't care what you" look like". If memory serves me right, that coop is a training facility for Washington DOT cops. I got stopped twice there in a little over a month, both times, because I had a long load, 56ft. The only things they could find wrong on the first visit, was a suicide knob, which they did write me up on. On the second visit, same, long load, the only thing they could come up with was the tint on the windows was to dark. The only reason I was stopped was the long load, which I buy the annual permit for.

Some might think that suicide knobs are dangerous, but after all these years of driving, I've never ever had anyone,Cali,Colo,Arkansas,Oregon,Mo. say anything about having one in the truck, plus I've never had a problem being hurt by one. They certainly make it easier to back up into a tight spot when you are driving a Classic or W900 or a 379. When you're backing across 4 lane of traffic, being able to turn a little faster gets you out of harms way a little quicker.
