I had the same same problem in 8th right after I had the ecm replaced. I had to get it re programed to fit the truck.

Is that the sensor on the tail of the tranny with 4 wires coming out of it? If so two of them have been spliced w/butt connectors but the other two look factory. The splicing was not done by me. My motto is do it right or get off the creeper.

I wolud guess that you have a fuel related problem somewhere between the fuel filter and the fuel tank stand pipe. A fuel filter head, fuel line fitting or oring, ECM cooling plate or fuel tank crossover valve if you have one. Keep in mind the engine has to work harder in the higher gears and for that reason the problem may not be as noticable in the lower gears. Another possibility is that the ECM could be seeing an out of range engine speed signal and is reacting accordingly, this is common where someone would advance the timing or install the wrong injectors in an engine.
