I own a 96 fld120 with a cummins n14 celect 460 hp. I have been getting a chirping/ sqeaking noise under acceleration and boost pressure. I took it to the shop and was told it was a bad exhaust manifold so they replaced it. They were wrong so I took it back and they sold me a new turbo. Still makes the noise. So they replaced my charge air cooler and all the boots and clamps. Guess what still not fixed! So the replaced my air intake manifold. Wrong again. The noise is getting louder now and more frequent. It loves to do it in high gear. Does it loaded and empty. Heads were done 90k ago.......... could they be bad yet again? Any ideas guys and gals? I am going broke FAST!!!!!!! No I don't want a newer rig, I love my old truck its part of me!

sounds like a headbolt, when one breaks after a while it will erroade the headgasket and thats where the chirping comes from. when they did the heads did they inspect the head bolts or check the wear on the block surface or the liner protrution?

Thanks for the help. I decided if they gotta tear it a part again I might as well get an inframe done. It's starting to use oil and less power. It goes in next moth I'll let ya know what they find.

Oh, I was going to guess fan belt. :biggrin_2559:

Like when your fan clutch engages, but check your bolts.:biggrin_255:

Good info, I have a 91 doing the same thing. But mine also under acceleration makes my cb so noisy that in order to hear anyone I have to let out of it and coast, same with the cruise on. I've checked everything, put diff radio in, same thing. I cleaned all my comp plugs and added a ground, no help, radio wrks perfect as long as your not putting fuel too engine, and it don't do it until everything is up to temp. This is driving me nuts. Any ideas???????
