Some brothers in my area have been in the cattle hauling party with their dad a long time out here. They have always been Cat guys for the most part. Well 12 years ago they ended up with one of my uncles Pete 358’s named “short block” with a bc 1 in it to use in their rodeo “clown” show. They have always been used to E model’s and lugged them around all the time. On 3 different occasion's I hear old short block coming from a mile away sounding like its anchored to a building and struggling to make any rpm’s. They come around the bend in front of my property with 24 round bales doing around 30mph in what sounded like top gear while wot. I said to myself them boys are gonna kill that thing lugging it like that as i cringed and cried.
Needless to say soon after i see the truck sitting at there pens with the hood off and engine torn down. Ran into one of them a couple months later at the chrome shop and he was complaining to me how the engine work was crap in that truck and it wouldn’t hold together. He said they put a straight edge on the deck and it had white capped waves on it. Lol! Smh. 10 years later it still sits because now they wanna put a Cat in it. Smh.

Started tearing into it and doesn’t look to have a valve out of place. Looking through the boxes I can’t see anything out of the ordinary. Removed the manifold and the exhaust ports on the front head have oil inside them. That said, with the crankcase pressure it had, along with blowing oil through the front main and possibly the accessory drive seal, was it most likely pushing oil towards the turbo through the return line, flooding it with oil?

Here’s some pic though not the best.

Have you tried running it with the top off and see if one rocker box has more steam rising from it?
