Just changed the cam and followers on my n14, Took it on a 1k trip ran smooth then about 80 miles from home i could hear on and off what sounded like valves needed to be redone. Took number 1 rocker assembly off and noticed the pushrod for the injector was inbetween the intake cup and injector cup kinda stuck there. Wiggled it out and there is 0 damage to the pushrod and from what i can see no damage anywhere. Oil change was clean. My question is what would cause this or did i mess up adjusting it for it to come out of the follower pocket?

Those can be a PITA when your assembling
I've had them pop out before once in a while but its been right after the Initial start up.. I had them not seated correctly thats when the pop out never had 1 run as long as yours did I would like to think you might not of had the jam nut tightened enough and it came out of adjustment
Just be glad your had no collateral damage
Check your push rod closely for some sort of damage and replace it if your in doubt
Run your over head again and double check your work and consider yourself fortunate

It ran what i thought was good the whole trip even when i heard the noise but i hope it was just me and didnt seat it correct. The jam nut was tight still.

    Catmando Thanks this.

Not to get off topic but I just found a bad injection push tube on my FIL’s 350 SC. Definite “thud” when you bounce it. I installed all the other good ones but before doing so I dipped them in clean oil, just so I could feel the suction between them and the cup.
I can’t imagine myself having the good luck you may have just had.
