hey drivers.
So I'm currently on the road with a cracked tooth( kills so bad). Had a script of an antibiotic and Motrin 800 seeing I know I can't be on the road working at all on a narcotic. I'm also taking another over the counter 200mg ibphrohuen. So I'm up to 1000mg.
I'm getting the tooth pulled next week I'm assuming. So here's my question. If I decide to take the Percocet after the extraction, how long will I be out of work? Also how many days do I have to wait until I can go back to work once I'm off them.
I can handle the pain now but I don't think after the extraction I will. It's already extremly painful as is. Taking 1000mg every 5 hours.
Narcotic

I have never had a tooth pulled so I can't say how long you will need the pain killers, but I seriously doubt the dentist will give you all that many to start with. I had to have emergency eye surgery in Ohio a while back. I was give an eye drop and some pills for pain. I called my safety department and asked them what to do. They shut me down for two days. On the third day I felt OK saw the doc again and got released to drive.

Tramadol (Ultram) is a non-narcotic pain killer that won't work as well as Percocet, but taken with some Tylenol it will take the edge off.
I got through shoulder surgery with it.
Just a thought.jammer910Z Thanks this. -
You won't have pain after the extraction, because the tooth won't be there.
I've had teeth pulled and didn't need more than ibuprofen or tylenol.
Dr. prescribed percocet and I got some but didn't use any; didn't need it. -
If its just one tooth, I would think one day and you should be fine as far as pain, its not that bad. Hurts more while it is in.
As far as the Percocet, I think it is something like 72 hrs after taking it. You may ask for Vicoden instead. It's a big dose of Acetaminophen, tylenot if you will, non narcotic. -
INCORRECT!!!!! Vicoden is a narcotic combined with a large dose of acetaminophen!
EXAMPLE: A Vicoden 5/325 is 5mg of hydrocodone and 325mg of acetaminophen.scottlav46 and HardRoc Thank this. -
Usually a tooth extraction (there are exceptions) only requires this:

i actually am going this morning, to get a cracked tooth yanked out. it cracked the other day and the surgeon is taking me in today. he gave me Vicodin the last time, i think a bottle of 30 tabs, but i think i only used all of 10. that other tooth, was a difficult extraction, i expect no easier this time today either. problem is, a script is the same price, no matter how many you get. so whatever he prescribes, i will take.
i'll go back to work Monday night, i'll just take tylenol or ibuprofen, once i go back Monday.
i also expect to sleep, most of the rest of today as well, when i get back from the carnage of the ripping out of the tooth, root, and maybe half my gum.
as far as YOU being out of work..??
depends on YOUR wallet and pain level.
can you stay out for more than 1-2 days.>????
this being the weekend (for me now), i'll be better by Monday.
just be sure to take the prescription bottle WITH YOU for any ""sudden random" your company throws at you in the days/weeks following.
but even if you fail to do so, the MRO will call you with a positive (you had better answer your phone) and you can tell him//her of your tooth extraction, and THAT doctor's name, number, etc. (but take the dam bottle)
