This is a warranty company. The only way warranty and insurance companies make a profit is when their revenue from warranties sold exceeds the cost of claims paid. If you understand this concept, you'll have a better understanding of what to expect.
Also, no aftermarket warranty company will warranty parts that are likely to fail. It doesn't make good business sense.
National Truck Protection is no different.
Yes, you must take your truck to a dealer but they don't pay for everything if claim is approved. Most times you are responsible for sales tax, shop fees and supplies, parts price difference (they don't pay retail prices) and labor difference (they don't pay dealer labor time, they pay warranty time).
Only what is specifically listed on the "contract" is covered. If your used truck dealer tells you that the warranty covers everything, don't believe the salesman. NO WARRANTY COVERS EVERYTHING. NTP warranties only cover specific engine, transmission, rear end and/or after treatment parts depending on the type of warranty.
There is so much more to know about NTP warranties. So before you buy one, please educate yourself on them.
If you have any questions, please post them here and I'll gladly answer them.
I know a lot about these warranties and how they work.

The only warranty worth having is the manufacturer's warranty.
77fib77, Vampire and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
If these used trucks were still cost effective to the original owners, they wouldn't be sitting on used truck lots. -
That NTP warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
Factory or don't waste your money.
Have some folding money for repairs.
Even with the factory warranty, if you're blowing and going, and you need stuff that's a few hundred bucks, you're under load, what you gonna do, fool around for 2 or 3 days for a few hundred dollars?
Factory warranty or just don't get one.joseph1853, Vampire, rachi and 1 other person Thank this. -
The most extreme example is if you have a catastrophic engine failure. If the claim is approved, at best, you'll be getting a used engine provided by NTP. And you'll have to wait weeks (even over a month) before you are back on the road. And you need to hope there is nothing wrong with the supplied, used engine. NTP WILL NOT PAY FOR NEW OR REMAN ENGINES.
Also, some of their warranties cap engine repairs at $15,000.
And if they determine that the cost of repair exceeds the current value of the truck, they'll buy out your "service contract". Usually the truck is financed, so the buy out check will go to the finance company.
Also, they're best after treatment plans are capped at $8,000. A one-box alone for a Detroit is $7,800 not including labor. -
Please please please, save your $4k towards repairs and you'll thank me. This warranty is a total scam!!!! Total ripoff!!!
joseph1853, Vampire and rachi Thank this. -
