Don't do it PJ. He sounds like a creep.
KHthebennyman and JustPj Thank this. -
@JustPJ, can you find out the cost of the airporter shuttle to Ellensburg and a Greyhound ticket to Denver? I'll contact both of them and pay for it. Scam or not, don't care, I don't want to see you get in that car or your sister driving head on into another winter storm. We have trucks coming through there several times a day going right through Denver but due to the nature of our loads and company policy the red tape involved to get you approved to ride isn't worth it.

There you go. You feel bad about accepting a handout? There's a way around that. Either pay it back, or pay it forward.Lux Prometheus, JustPj, Leftlane101 and 3 others Thank this.

I'm not looking for payback. I'm just very fortunate with my job that I can afford to help another driver out because some day I may be the stranded one needing help.Leftlane101, thebennyman, luvtotruck and 4 others Thank this.

Wow, I guess the motto of the story is never train with an owner operator. I've read the thread, and I'm glad to know that you are getting the help you need. Being a company driver for Melton I probably won't be able to swing by anytime in the near future. Melton is forced dispatch. Since you have refused money I'm not sure how to help you other than offer my prayers and heart felt empathy.
You mentioned that you are looking at Melton for employment. I can recommend them if you don't mind tarpping almost every load. It's hard work, but it keeps you in shape. I've had a few problems with them, but they were resolved to my satisfaction. I believe that they care about the drivers. PM me if you want to know more.
I'm glad you are pursuing legal action and are getting DOT involved. You should at the very least be fairly compensated. Was your first call to the company? It's always best to give the company a chance to do the right thing before taking other action.
Anyway, thumbs up for your interest in flatbed. A few advantages include less wind resistence, stable schedule as in drive during the day and sleep at night, less backing at customers, extra pay, knowing what your cargo is and how it's secured so you don't have to worry about toppling the trailer or hauling something you are not supposed to, and not having to mess with sliding tandems. It's a lot of hard work though. It's not for every driver. You have to be able to lift at least 90 lbs and needless to say handling those tarps will make you dirty fast. I hope things work out for you. Keep us posted. The Challenger, JustPj and thebennyman Thank this. -
wow been reading this thread and I cant believe a company would do that too anyone I'm just a student and I know in a few months I will be out with a trainer and hope I don't get one that might do that to me and pj I really hope things get better for you and I do agree with the other about not taking a ride with some guy off craigslist like that esp with the ad he had
JustPj Thanks this. -
does this type of stuff happen a lot with trainees being put out ?
-
I agree please do not get in that car !!!! This has creepy pervert written all over it. To Catalina Flyer the only problem I found with Ellensburg is she will have to catch the 6 PM bus in order to connect with Greyhound and a Taxi to the Loves to wait for a 1:40 AM bus. She might be better off catching the Airporter bus into Seattle where she might make a better connection with Greyhound.JustPj Thanks this.

I didn't look at schedules, I'm in bed now and will check in here in about 6 hours when I get ready to roll.JustPj, The Challenger and markdm4805 Thank this.
