To Whom it may concern at Navajo Express Inc.
I'm sure as your already are aware one of your trainee's whom entrusted you with "Her" safety, was abruptly kicked out of the truck on top of a mountain pass during 8 degree weather 1500 miles from home.
This immoral and negligent action put your "Employee" in Grave Danger as well put your own company's assets at risk.
It has also come to our attention that your trainer was illegally using a handicap parking permit, which put those whom actually needed said space in a precarious position. It is also stated that Your trainer was logging for your student unauthorized . This is also a violation of federal law. You did train her on e logs during orientation right?
To add insult to injury your administrative staff reportedly knew of the situation and did nothing to help . In fact one could call it retaliatory by mailing her "last" check .
Do your trainers have the authority to make a human resource decision and terminate one of your employee's on top of a mountain pass, Because they didn't get along?
Did you provide her with a letter of separation on top of the mountain pass?
Let me explain what a rational person would do .
A rational person would not endanger the life of an "employee" for which is entrusted to them agree?
A rational person would not allow their ego to over rule logic.
What happens when said Trainer get's mad at traffic , This is a huge liability would you agree?
Here's what I suggest you do and promptly.
Route that Trainer back to Denver and discharge her immediately for what's likely a vast array of company policy violations that you may or may not have been made aware of.
I would also suggest you contact your stranded employee and apologize. Immediately take care of the hotel, book a flight and compensate her exceedingly well for this wonderful experience. I would also suggest your provide her with a neutral reference.
Finally I would suggest you clean house. No matter how you spin this She is someone's daughter sister or mother. How would you like having yours dropped off on a mountain pass 1500 miles from home,, Just curious ?
To the Trainer whom perpetrated this negligence you may not know what you have gotten yourself into but I'm pretty sure your about to find out.

I hope thwy get what they have coming to them, Pj I hope you get home safely, please keep us informed here as to what happens! Thanks.

o...k.....I think I finally got to the end of this one. Lots of stuff winging back and forth. PJ, I agree that putting you out at the top of a mountain pass was morally and ethically wrong. Legal? That I don't know, but I can't imagine that it is. And if it is, we need to change that post haste. I won't go into the transgender issues, but there was wrong (and right -- you apologized, even if she didn't) all around, and you accepted that. A screaming match doesn't make for safe driving. Falsifying logs will get people in serious trouble. Illegally using a handicapped tag is .... un-something. (It's a very rude word, and I don't want any marks against my name in the teacher's book.)
I hope you get home safely, and continue to update us. I hope this can be a springboard, and bring to light all the way the DRIVERS are abused in this industry. I'd like to see John Q. Public made more aware of the day to day life, as maybe, just maybe, they'll think thrice (yes, I used the right word) before cutting off another semi in their quest to get there (where ever THAT might be) first.
Trainee, trainer, company, IC, O/O--all drivers put up with a mega-excrement-ton of abuse. Too many times, you turn the other cheek. Time to start fighting back, with words and actions that are appropriate. Don't threaten someone with something you won't do because it would land you in jail...they know you won't follow thru. Instead, find ways of bringing their bull-excrement to the public light, much like you have done here.
(And for heaven's sake, can we find a way to get rid of outrageous lumper charges?)Lux Prometheus and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
Well, it sounds like a ride is going to work out for you. Good luck, and keep in touch. Keep Navajo's feet to the fire!

Ha ha, just before 6 am and only 8 users on the thread, 6 members and 2 guests. Wouldn't have surprised me to have seen 80 still here.
I would take one issue with Anon. The Trainer's a trucker, too. So asking or demanding that Navajo recall Trainer to Denver (which SHOULD happen) and summarily fired may not be. It doesn't faze me that two people in a jail-cell-sized cab could get into a snit. To me, that's not the issue here.
The issue here is the ongoing disregard of mega carriers and trucking companies in general for the welfare of truckers, and not just financial. We, as truckers, need to insist, to demand, a higher standard from the carriers we drive for. We are complicit in the abuse we receive both personally and by indifference or, 'Oh, yeah, I went through that, too. Suck it up.'
It's not okay, folks.
So far the cheap seats that usually emerge with their self-appointed, self-styled District Attorney hats on, eager to put the OP under the white light and practice their prosecutorial examination, to see just how the OP grills on the TTR BBQ--somehow Pj has managed to get passed that. So far.
Could this whole story blow up?? Sure. I don't think it matters, not at this point. To see the TTR community concerned enough--finally--to start exploring how to take action... Whoa!! I like that!! I'm heartened. Heartened for Pj, for myself as a driver and for other drivers, especially new drivers.
I see this thread as a crack in the wall and maybe, just maybe a beginning of, 'We won't take it anymore.' To me, that's worth the risk Pj's story blows up.Last edited: Dec 8, 2013

Just went to their fb page.Alot of new posts since yesterday.I left another message.I am SO FAR from done with this company.Miss pj I hope you seriously consider seeking legal action for this.Companies get away wit murder because drivers just chalk it up as a bad exp and move on.But we as drivers cannot let this type of thing happen.Do it for all the drivers of America.I know a lawyer that I bet would take this case in a heartbeat and you pay nothing for his services.Hes pro bono meaning if you win he receives a percentage of the settlement.Im sure there are a lot of trucking lawyers in Denver as well.I really hope you don't let this go.Navajo needs to pay dearly for this.
