A Rand McNally Deluxe Motor Carrier's Atlas. MSRP $79.95, preferably you would get it 3 months ago on clearance for $20. Or, just the regular one for $20. The deluxe has laminated pages and is spiral bound.
seriously though, GPS routing is a joke. Use a map to route yourself, use GPS to see a map of where the heck you are. If you do it that way, any GPS will do just fine. TomTom is cheap and pretty nice. You can win it from a Stacker arcade game at some truck stops for $1. -
Very much true!!!
Even as a 4-wheeler that makes a lot of long runs.
I have a Garmin and after my second long trip I took. I keep a map in my Truck/Car.
1st Trip it took me over 1100 miles right to the guy front door.
2nd trip I went over 1200 miles just fine. But for some reason it had me make 2 right turns in this town next to where I had to be, 1/4 mile down the road I'm sitting in front of a baseball field and it said I was at my destination. I was over 12 miles from where I needed to be.
After backing my trailer 1/4 mile back down the road (no where to turn around) in the snow. I reset (off-on) the darn thing and it tells me the right directions of where to go.
Found out later and by accident there is a refresh option on it. Every time I start getting close to where I need to be or need detail directions I REFRESH.
Of course I always keep an Atlas with me now and review it before I head out and again once I start getting close.
