Man I'd switch your DM. I'd definitely be on them for the layover pay. We've all had to sit, but I don't know how I would be ok with sitting AND only averaging 6,000 miles a month. when I drove company side I averaged at least 2500 to 2800 miles a week as a 48 stat driver. As a lease guy my miles shot down to 1900 to 2100 per week. needless to say, I put in the time and I walked. They can kiss my ###

And by time I mean my year. I walked on the lease. DO NOT let them tempt you with the better rate per mile. Its all BS

I almost went with the lease after my first year. they kinda pushed me away from it after they ran me dry of DEF and I spent 3 weeks out of the last 4 I was there in a hotel room. it just amazed me what kind of people they were hiring to be DM's, putting them in charge of fleets and these people had absolutely no clue, and could give a rats ### about you. My last DM there I only had for like a month, she was trained by the DM i had before her, who was only there about 2 months.... yeah, theres some experience right there. The denver office became a big joke, half the DM's there had less than 6 months experience, how they were training eachother just blew my mind. All they knew how to do was send their standard messages in the morning when they got in, requesting fuel state macro and eta/pta, which I'm sure they didn't even read they were just doing what they were taught to do.

I would never sign a lease to purchase a truck from a company and then lease back to them. It's suicide in my opinion. Now I can understand the merits of a person buying their own rig then running under a companies authority if that's what floats their boat. However, I'm not inclined to even do that.
As far as the DM talk here. One thing I learned early on at May is that your DM has absolutely nothing to do with planning your loads. That is all controlled by the planners and is tied into the Qualcomm and software the company uses for logistics. The logistics dept uses certain metrics for load distribution positioning and they are always going to do what makes best sense for the company bottom line, not the drivers. No amount of yelling, reminding, crying or whatever is going to change it. -
In addition, the DM cannot arbitrarily dispatch fuel to a driver at most of these big companies anymore. That is controlled by software which computes the info off your truck positioning direction, last fuel stop, miles averaged, run, etc.

when i had my first 2 DM's, anytime i needed fuel, they gave it to me, same with DEF
and the issues with the new DM's had nothing to do with my loads, i didn't sit much if ever. the problem was the DM's themselves, they didn't care about ####, my last load I took to denver, scheduled to deliver the next morning, how is it my DM just FORGOT to tell me oh, you aren't delivering it. and when the main DM in denver calls over to her asking what happened when I went up to ask about it, she just shrugged and continued on the computer.... its easy to teach a monkey to press the enter button on a keyboard, totally different story getting them to understand what it actually doesskootertrashr6 Thanks this. -

may used to be the best company out there until the son inlaw took over.now its one of the worst.i never made less than 50k a year with may just not to long ago.i wouldn't recommend anyone to that place now.they treat u like u r in 5th grade.they just don't care anymore.they used to have really good people in brooks that took care of the drivers but that president was heard saying that he hated truck drivers and it shows.
