I start with my trainer on Sunday with May, after reading this thread I'm wondering if I went with the wrong company!

If it doesn't work out, don't waste your time making chump change. Look around and get with another company sooner rather than later. I always kept a backup plan of my next move, in case something didn't work out, I knew exactly where I was going next. It just depends on what makes you happy. Some drivers are content with $500 - $600 a week and some of us aren't satisfied unless we make minimum of a grand a week. That's up to you, but keep a backup plan, it's like insurance for your financial security.

While you're in Denver, look at trans-system website. System Transport has a terminal in Denver. They hire newbies & prefer you download the application & Fax it to them. Some of their drivers posted they average $50K per year. There's 3 companies to choose from on that website.

Krazyhorse, don't stress orentation! Take a ua go driving first day the test is not bad I knocked over tires in one of my backing manuvers saftey guy had me pull forward and try again I nailed it. He asked me why I hit his tires and I told him cause I should have got out and looked one more time. He lectured me on if I'm unsure always get out and look! We went driving around the block I hit a curb turning out of terminal onto washington st. He looked at me and told me "that was a curb you just hit" then explained to me how dangerous that is. Rest of test went pretty smooth. They take into account I'm fresh out of school and nervous. The next two days were movies paperwork and listening to people talk. As long as you are safe and you can shift you will be okay. The drivers I talked to in the terminal said its best company to work for in comparison to other large carriers ie. Swift werner jb hunt etc. Seems like may takes care of the go getters and those that need their hand held get the cold shoulder I'm a motivated person so I'm thinking I will do fine.

also, check craigslist, theres a company K&B transport posting 950 weekly minimum, guaranteed, if you are looking out of denver....

K&B Transportation guarantees our company drivers 2500 paid miles per week with our unique mileage guarantee. When our drivers are on the road, if they do not run 2500 miles in a week, we pay them the difference! With our mileage pay that equals out to $950 per week minimum! Drivers typically run more than 2500 miles, so their guarantee truly is just their minimum!

lets save this quote right here, say for a few months, and we can come back to it later ^.^
I'm sure there are a few that would really disagree, but every one is different, and has different needs. on that note, it would be a far stretch to go as far to say any company is the "best", they all have issues and sorry, while may is a DECENT company to start with, I would never say it was the best.

I grew up around trucks I'm a 3rd generation driver and one thing I have learned is truckers are the most opinionated people you will ever meet in your life! Its like ain't got nothing better to do than sit behind the wheel and stew about things that are not going good. Wich is very easy to do especially if you get caught up in the channel 19 drama!

I'm just at may to get some experience. I don't expect nothing more than some finishing from school. I have a family so in about a year I will move into something more dedicated and specialized! I have tons of hook ups but no matter who I know its the insurance companies that require atleast one year.
