I began my training with Prime, which is entirely OTR. I ended up having to go home halfway through and began with a local CDL school.

Where can we get 1000/week fresh out of driving school? Any legitimate suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

10-12 years ago that was realistic almost anywhere, not anymore.

As a newbie at May 4 years ago I averaged 3k miles a week on the 48 States. My starting cpm was .30 per mile. Not quite 1k a week, but close. When I started taking guys on the truck to teach them the policies and procedures of the company, I easily averaged 1k plus per week.
It can be done...even at bigger carriers. -
3k a week for anyone is hard to come by on a consistent basis anymore.with the schools bringing all the new drivers in and regulations and e-logs and crack down by DOT u cant do it on a regular basis.when we ran lots of miles in the past we had to cheat and if u didn't cheat the trucking companies wouldn't run u.the drivers that ran hard got all the good runs.its a different day now.the driver who makes the least per mile gets the miles.its about survival now and economics.just the way it is

Well, the other shoe has finally dropped. Having to fight for layover pay each time they've left me parked wasn't enough. That pay was meager, but at least it covered my daily expenses. This time they've given me a 3 day trip that only covers 350 miles. Once taxes, food, and the cost of at least 1 shower (they've been so reluctant to fuel me that I have no credits) are considered, this trip will actually cost ME to complete. I'm done and moving on as soon as I can secure other work.

Someone I know at May called me last week and said they got 1,300 miles in the previous pay period and not faring much better this pay period.
They are also quitting as soon as they can secure other employment. I feel really bad for the drivers that can't make it (for whatever reason) there.
This person is NOT lazy, NOT late for appointments, NOT refusing to run at night, NOT inefficient at planning, NOT neglecting to send in PTA, etc, etc, etc.
This person has tried everything they know to do to increase miles, including calling the OCM more than once, calling (using the squeaking wheel method) the DM, taking crappy loads in hopes of a better one to follow, threatening to quit. Still, the same old results.
What is a person to do under the circumstances? Nothing left to do but move on, in my opinion.skootertrashr6 Thanks this. -
