I have a 36" sleeper for my 359 Pete. It has a door on the driver's side only. I bought a used door and frame to install in the passenger side. Here's where I need the help:
    • On the driver's side, the seam in the sheet metal is right in the center of the panel so it joins at the top and bottom of the door in the vertical center of it. (pointing at it in the picture. Ignore the seam to the right, that's the extender)
    • On the passenger side, there are 2 vertical seams, one on each side of the panel near the corners of the sleeper. Obviously, it wasn't made for a door. (pointing at the right lap seam in the picture. There's another lap seam right where the extender connects.)

If you have a 36" sleeper with a factory door on the passenger side, is the seam split in the vertical center of the panel or on the sides? I suspect it is in the middle and I'm going to have to replace the panels for it to fit and seal correctly. I can't find any close up pictures anywhere to go off. Thanks for any help.

We are in the process of reskinning a 36" 359 sleeper as we speak. You are correct, with a door on both sides, the seam is in the middle. You will probably need both front and rear skins for that side. Last I checked, they were NLA from peterbilt and even if they could find some, they were around $500 a peice. We wound up rolling, cutting and drilling our own panels that needed to be replaced out of 5052 aluminum sheet. Also you will need a huck rivet gun to set the factory magnagrip pins if you want to do it "right". The doorjams seem to be what holds these sleepers together. Good luck

Thanks BigCam. I appreciate your comment. I figured I would have to make new panels, drill and huck it all together. I assume you had the old skins for templates?

Yes we did have them, but they were really rough, we basically just used them to get the door openings correct. Once you get into it, its not a huge deal, but it is definately time consuming and you need to be precise.
