I got a 2005 freightliner classic xl someone brought to my attention.
Specs:
cat c15, 13sp
955,000 miles
Body is in fair shape. Just some dings here and there,
what is consider normal.
Frame is untouched. Never been in an accident.
Was ran by a solo o/o
still trying to get ahold of the fella go is selling for some more info.
My worries are on the engine. I've seen Cary's are we're well taken care of
still being ran over 1mil miles.
After I see the records on this truck and get a crank case sample.
If it is 955,000 miles on a cat that has NOT had an overhaul(inline or out)
from personal results what are the odds of needing one in the first year. I know
most overhauls you can get another 2-3 years out of them. But at 20k$ I don't want to have to do it until at least
year 2.
Thank you

#### phone. Sorry.
Carys - cat. -
depends on asking price of the truck. its a little high mileage but if been well maintained and I wouldn't be scared of it. I know a lot of guys who have put a million and half on the c15s. it just depends on how its been taken care of.
Rusty86 Thanks this. -
we have a guy leased on here where I am leased to put a million and half on his 3406b before he pulled it and replace it with a 3406c and has almost 2 million on it with an inframe done at around 1,200,000. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in his truck and run to California and back in it. pull an oil sample and if he will let you put it on a dyno. but if he has maintained the truck and taken very well care of it it will be a good truck
Rusty86 Thanks this. -
19,750$ is what he's asking.
-
that's a fair price but I would go over that truck carefully as everything is going to depend on how well he maintained it

I have a kenworth with a c15 with 1.3million on it(no overhaul) ran it solo since 03' and its still kickin. However, i keep my equipment top notch and dont drive like a hooligan. Pm on time, and a little bit of luk maybe and its still running smooth.
Its hard to say on the freightliner not knowing the owner. You could get lucky and drive 300k more miles no problems or you could brake down your first week. That 19k is a fair price

Exactly. From what I was able to see its pretty clean/ kept up. Sounded like an older ggentleman as well. Their prtty diligent on keeping up on their rigs.
My only other concern would be post getting it.
Who to go to and would they finance that amount/ that old of a truck.
MI like it especially because its ore emissions c15.
Then there is who to take it to.i had a company lined up.
80% under their authority/trailer all dry freight.
I've been looking around on here.
I haven't seen much as far as who I could get the cash from. At that price
im only looking at 400$/ week + interest for a 12 month payoff.
Plus I need to figure out how I go about securing funds for the first insurance dp, plate, tags,
permits, fees ect.
I don't even know if you can do it that way.
Im just trying to break away from the company I'm with. I've been goin back and forth on getting my own tractor for a year. We just got out bid on the account I was running (home weekends, paper loads) and their regional freight volumes aren't that great. Their load "planners" aren't doing that great either. I've sat 2x 25 hours because I got outbid on a load, or because they didn't have anything lined up next. Just time to make a move. -
Dont buy a truck without having $ set aside specifically for repairs. Even on new trucks you just dont know
-
That's the other thing. Of I would have known 3-4 months ago. I would have had the money. Ended up trading in one of our cars for a new finance. Used what I had for a dp.
