Thanks....but I do have questions. Those regulations look to be the current regs. But, your saying the 24 hour rule will still be in effect. What about the "only one reset during a 7 day period"?

That one will, if not exempted, change some of the schedules. Example: Currently you can do 5 days @ 14 hrs, then take a 24 hr reset and do another 5 days, but at the end of that second 5 days, your at 70 hrs again, but it hasn't been 7 days since your last reset. Obviously, if there is an exemption in the new rules, it won't matter.

I have seen some of the help wanted ads say that after July 1st, they would be going to a 5 on/2 off, 5 on/ 3 off schedule. Makes me think there is no exemption in the new rules.

I thank you for the discussion Ben. I'm just trying figure out to stay legal after July 1.

I looked on the fmcsa website for it. As best I could tell, you are correct that 24 hr reset is still there. But, I couldn't find anything at all about the "one reset in 7 days" rule as it pertains to the oilfields.

You are making it difficult, you work for a company that runs time cards and you do not have to worry about logs and crap. They all stay within a 100 mile radius of their yards.

Yes...if that is the case, the rest is irrelevant. We probably have a case of different people doing different things here also.

As taught at the old Dowell Driver's school in Kellyville, the legal way around logs are to not drive on DOT roads. Once you get onto a lease road it is no longer governed bye dot and can be logged as on duty,,rather then driving. Still you need to keep track of hours because if you get back onto the DOT highway without having proper time off after being on duty too many hours it is a violation. IE haul from well site to disposal pit without getting back on highways is Leagal. Getting back on highways at 100 hrs is a definate NO. you will need your time off to reset your days before you do that, or have a company supervisor take you back and forth to the locations. Hope that makes a little sence. Good luck and God bless.
