My husband went in to Swift yesterday. He was suppose to get a mentor but they didn't have one. He graduated the top of his class 98%. They all said he would be a "money maker." He listens and he drove over 20 years ago. If you are a mentor please respond. He doesn't want to sit around. He wants to go to work!

Several things...does he smoke? Does he need to go by the house within the next 2-4 weeks? Do you have a problem with him getting a female trainer? The less restrictions a person has, the faster he gets a gig. Did any of the other rookies get assigned to a truck? If so, why did they skip over 'MoneyMaker'? There has to be a reason, right?

Swift should have ol Hub put up in a motel room with a rotating roomate (different driver every day). Hub needs to sit and hang out in the lobby of the motel. That's where the aggressive trainers (the ones that don't wait for desk jockeys to stare at computer screens and play matchmaker) will look first. They will come in and ask if any of the rookies are available and ready to go. Then they will contact a desk jockey (even night and weekend dispatch), give them Hub's driver number, and away they go.

Travel light, keep your stuff packed, and be ready to go at a moment's notice.

Is his mentor, and everybody at Swift going to have to go through you to communicate w/ the driver?
What is up w/ all these wives micro managing their husbands job? What other profession would this be acceptable? Not even McDonald's. "Hey store manager, my husband was told he'd run the fryer, but no one is there to train him. Can you get on that? He really wants to make french fries. Please help."
If I was a mentor, and I got wind of this sort of thing, I'd keep your hubby off my truck. Who needs the hassle?

I don't get it. My wife would have been completely insulted if I'd ever done anything like that.

This is what happens when fox news starts telling the wives they can in fact do more than make sammiches.

That's not fair. I didn't micro-managed my wife's career, and she didn't mico-manage mine. I'ts not about a woman's "place". It's about having faith in each other's ability. Posts like the OP put up makes me think that she doesn't trust her husband to do what needs to be done. Can he not get the job done w/out her constant supervision?
I dunno, maybe I'm just bitter and it's getting late.

The problem is, he went with Swift. Several other companies the new grads don't have to wait for a mentor/trainer. Some companies as soon as the new driver finishes the school the company has a trainer already assigned.

He can move on to another company; Swift doesn't care if he does; they will just send a bill for the schooling. No reason to wait around if you don't have to;lots of companies will be glad to put you on the road.
Submit some applications today and probably have a new job tomorrow.
