Hi guys, I only have 3 months otr and 5 weeks solo experience way back in 2007. I have a current cdl A with a current medical card. I have been driving locally class b for almost 15 years. I need more money. I make about 42k before taxes but I only clear a out 2800 a month. I would like to get back on the road but I don't know where to start, I can't really take a financial pay cut either. Any advice?
You'll take a pay raise by going OTR. You can jump easily from your current pay to $60G and more with many companies. Do you have endorsements? Where are you located?
KLLM Transportation REFRESHER COURSE OVERVIEW Do you have a current Class-A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) with at least 3 months of experience in the past but don’t have recent experience to qualify to drive solo right away? Our KLLM Driving Academies offer a 9-day Refresher Course that will put you on the path to getting back on the road as a professional truck driver.
Another driver from Texas posted KLLM isn't currently hiring in Texas. The rules can change quickly, so contact a recruiter to find out. @rollitup1
Apply to these companies in this thread. The driver is from Texas. You probably have a decent chance for OTR with these companies. CDL mega company near South Texas
One driver on this forum went to Knight for a refresher because he hadn't driven in 10 years. CDL School Driver Training | Knight Transportation Learn how to get your CDL and join Knight Transportation, a leading trucking company. Find out about the application process, CDL school curriculum, tuition, and career opportunities.
Find the company that will hire you before you spend any money on a refresher course. Maybe the trucking company doesn't recognize the CDL school you get the refresher course from on your own. Maybe the trucking company that wants to hire you makes you ride with a trainer for a period of time and no refresher course.
