I start the big O in the morning, any luck on the road Thursday.

go slow in truck stop parking lots. I always dim the headlights if it's night. Keep a record (written in a notebook is fine) of each load of laundry you do on the road as it is a $9.00 tax credit per load. When in the trucker showers, bring your own soap and shampoo, never make eye contact with the other men (as we associate it with date surfer and some dont take nicely to those types), if you drop your soap and it slides out from under your shower area, just ask the trucker showering next to you to kick it back to you, don't go into his area. Don't walk out into the shower room from your little sink room naked, wrap a towel around yourself. If a trucker starts to make small talk, he's surfing, and you should tell him youre not interested. Good luck with the training

well lets see.....truck stop manners are pretty much a thing of the past in most places. As far as showers go....get yourself the truckstop loyalty cards most of which you have to apply for....do it on line and print the paper card out ....but as a rule anytime you put 50 gallons of fuel on or more you get a free shower. Most of the Large truck stops have laundry facilities but it's coin op and never leave it alone...bring a book to read.
hate to say it but alot of the truck stops are filled with slime and attitudes but that's what has happened to the industry everybody thought it was quick easy money and it isn't. I wish ya good luck out there and be safe driver -

You'll need to get your discount cards at all the major truck stops. Pilot, Loves, TA, etc all have cards that you swipe before you fuel that loads points and showers on the card. The cards also double as a straight edge for your log book.
If the lot is well lit, and most are, turn your headlights off entirely. Just leave the markers on. And make sure your jake is off when you pull in. Take it slow, don't park blocking the fuel pump if you can avoid it, and don't block traffic. Same goes for inside the store. If you pull in and all the pumps are full, pick someone to pull in behind. Don't sit there in the entrance backing up trucks for a mile behind you that can't even get in. -
are you perhaps alluding to any time spent "in da big house"........??? -
"Good Buddy" shower rooms used to be common 20-30 years ago. Haven't seen any in quite some time.
