I'm not sure who I should go with. I did attend orientation with a flatbed company and they said because of my Scoliosis I could not pass their physical. So that leaves me with Refrigerated, Tanker, or Dry Van. I am in Baltimore. I was considering Roel, Schneider, Stevens, and Conway.
Can anyone give some good directions? Thanks!
Need a starter company that hires out of Baltimore

Ozark Motor Lines is 100% no-touch freight.
Schneider's a pretty good company, but they're strict on the tanker division. They have the Harley-Davidson account in your area that's supposed to pay about $66K per year. Toyota account also & others.
Super Service
Navajo Express
Paschall Truck Lines
Pride Transport
NFI
Trimac(hires new CDL grads even though the website may not say so)
J & R Schugel Trucking
Epes has a good reputation.
Cargo Transporters hires new CDL grads and is 90% no-touch freight.
Some of these companies run coast-to-coast and some just Eastern half of USA.Last edited: May 28, 2014

BaltRookie might want to look at Covenant running team for a few months then go solo if you want. Just depends on what kind of money you want to make. Good luck

I'd like to get the most experience and money in 2years before I find a company I want to retire from.

Do you need hazmat for convenant? Is driving teams a lot more money than solo? I'm kinda nervous about sleeping with the wheels movin
.

Roehl should be hiring out of Baltimore, its worth a call.

Covenant pays a lot more for haz if you run team. I don't think you have to get the haz but there's a lot of LTL freight here you won't be able to haul without it. Teaming is ok does take a little getting used to but there's way better money in it until you get good years if experience. Wish you best.

http://www.cowansystems.com heard these guys are great. Main terminal in Baltimore but they do not hire new drivers. Might be something to look into down the line.
-
Cant believe people are trying to convince you to go to Covenant, one look at their equipment says it all, trailers are ancient, trucks falling apart, would not go near them.
Cargo Transporters would be your best bet, used to work for them, pretty decent company, especially for people starting out. LOTS of freight from the Carolinas to your neck of the woods, Not sure if they hire trainee's out of Baltimore though. Give them a call. If not Cargo, then EPES, rest of the companies out there hiring people straight out of school are pure crapLast edited: May 29, 2014

I'll fill out an app with Cargo. I mean it can't hurt.
I may be getting into the Schneider Dedicated (Team or Solo) Harley Davidson fleet. Not sure if that's good choice or not, talked to the HR people about my app etc.
I may also be getting in with Roehl for refrigerated (solo), I gotta fax them my school papers.
Stevens wants me to go to orientation. I filled out an app for Conway.
What would you take?
