If you were to buy a truck that is really good on mpg what brand of truck would you say is best ?
Am think freightliner now with the cascsdia evolution that get 9 to 10 mpg but I cant afford that so lests be realistic
Another question the lower the miles on the truck the better the mpg?
When buying a truck why would I consider the tire height and rear end gear ratio
Am thinking about doung flatbed or reefer done both before thanks for comments

What's your $$$ situation like? You can still get an '09 Cascadia, still very good mpg for around upper $60s to mid $70s.

Saint, do not discount your self to quick! Say the avg truck gets 7 to 7.5 the new freightliner say gets 9 to 9.5 ? On 2400 miles a week , the new trucks fuel bill would be 400 a week cheaper. That's 1600 a month. Take that off the payment it gets real close to what a half worn out truck's payment will be. Look at the big picture. The new truck may not be for you, but do not rule any thing out, till you really crunch the numbers! That said the 11 and later freightliners with the def have been proforming well.

Lower the miles doesn't mean better mpg.Lower miles means less chance to breakdown then higher miles truck, but again, that's not a rule, brand new truck can breakdown. If you want newer truck and good mpg maybe you should go with freightliner glider kit.My personal choice would be freightliner coronado with 12.7 detroit,13 speed and 500hp

You never know your luck when u buying used truck, unless you are buying it off somebody you know, who took good care of the truck, its all gamble. My friend bought truck in MI and two days later oil showed up in coolant,he had to replace oil cooler, truck had 450k on it.Other guy bought '06 volvo wit 500k miles on it,spent 15k for repairs in first month and half.On the other side I know guy from canada who bought an brand new '05 columbia, has over 1 600 000 miles on it now without any major repair. Detroit 12.7 engines are known as reliable and long lasting, not so much powerful but good mpg,I have '99 century with 1 130 000 miles and Im getting over 7 mpg all the time
