Did you kill the mayor's son? That's straight-up self defense. I haven't heard anything like this since the 50's and 60's, when a black man would kill a white man in self defense in Mississippi.
First thing I would do is try to get my lawyer disbarred (if their still practicing), then I would be sueing the family's of the men that attacked me in a civil suit for lost wages, and loss of livelihood.Arizona..Fats Thanks this. -
No, just two drunks that attacked me. There were a lot of extenuating circumstances that had nothing to do with my case but affected it none the less. during the time I was convicted there were three different brutal psychotic series of murders concerning soldiers on Ft. Hood. One was an Army doctor who cut his wife into p[ieces and spread the remains among dumpsters all over central texas because she got pregnant and he didn't want children. The second was a soldier who questioned whether he could kill, so he hired a cab and killed the cab driver to find out, found out he liked it and killed several more before he was caught. The third was a soldier who simply went crazy when his girlfriend broke up with him so he killed her, both her brothers, her mother and father, and when police finally investigated his house they found the corpses set up at the dinner table. It was a pretty bizzar year, so when my case came up, The Army washed their hands of it and refused to get involved. There were two things against me. First was the fact that I left the scene after the fight, but I didn't know the guy was that seriously injured. My wife was with me and I wasn't thinking. All my mind was set on was getting me and my wife out of there. The second thing against me was that two "friends" followed me. One was behind me in his vehicle when all of this started, he knew exactly what happened, he stopped, got one of the two off me then proceeded to get his tail end beat seriously, the second friend was in a preceeding vehicle and knew nothing, but when he saw I was no longer behind him, he turned around to look for us, when he turned down the street I was on his headlights caught me hitting the guy while he was on the ground. What happened was, I got hit across the head with a pipe and blacked out. The next thing I remember I was on my knee trying to shake it off and he was pounding my shoulder. I had a Gerber Mark II Combat knife in my boot. I lunged upward with it blindly, and stabbed him. That was the killing blow. He did not die right away, instead he fell. I stood up and he grabbed my leg and would not let go, so I punched him in the sternum, at the exact time that my friend rounded the corner. His testimony was that I stabbed a helpless man on the ground, but that is not what happened. Regardless its what the jury and the prosocuter wanted to hear, so I went down. We used all of our money paying an attorney who was more than incompetent, my parents took out loans to allow the same attorney to file appeal. He tried to get another 25K out of my parents to finish the appeal, but there was no money left. Now the case is 25 years old and laws passed in Texas in the 90s keep me from opening it back up unless new evidence is revealed. There is no new evidence so there is nothing I can do but live with it and pray some employer will over look it. The comments about trusting a dog more than a con are something I live with every day, even though I have since gone to seminary, become an ordained minister, and served as a Senior Pastor AFTER my release, even though I served for 7 yeears as a chaplain in a motorcycle ministry, and even though I regularly ride for and attend Patriot Rider funeral processions to honor our fallen soldiers. The bottom line is that it doesn't matter who I am or what I do now, all that matters is that I have a 25 year old Murder rap and I'm on parole and no one trusts a convict. Not an employer and not a team driver.

I just recieved a call from Millis Transfer telling me that my application was accepted and I begin training in thier next class in January. I asked if this was a guaranteed job or if more screening was required and she said that as long as I had no serious issues during training that I would be driving for Millis Transfer. So now I'm hoping nothing goes wrong between now and January.
blairandgretchen and TroyD Thank this. -
Congrats...they are a great company.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -

IM guessing you have to physically live in Texas for your probation? But,you can leave state for 30 days max at a time. Or you can transfer probation out of state? I know Gardner Trucking chino cali supposedly hires felons and has active gang members driving right now. Thats what Ive heard anyway. Supposed to have a deal worked out withthe govt. to get some kind of funding or tax break to hire felons. I would call them. And I dont know name of it But theres supposedly a truck testing facility in or around Phoenix Az . That doesnt care about your record as long as you have cdl.sSupposedly no deliveries or pickups just drive around and road test their new equipment,no backing up either. May be their insurance is ok with it because of no freight on board and no backing up Not sure. Iwould google that or start a thread. I read about it somewhere. Hope this helps!
