I am in the satellite and EOBR crowd and I run around 60-62 mph all the time. Not making me mad what you do!

he would have to be running 2.64 on tall rubber. 2.47 on low pro. If I put the tranny in the top hole (18th or 9H) which is the same as 9 speed in the top hole, with my 2.64 rears and low pro 22.5, I would be at 73 at 1200 rpm. But I generally run in 16th (direct drive) and keep the speeds between 58 and 62, mostly 60 to 62 mph.

Kinda hard to imagine the spread between gears using 2.64 and only a 9 speed. Low side wouldn't be terrible, but the top side with anything real heavy would be an issue.

I'm geared even taller than that, running a 3.07 rear with lo-pro 22.5 (39" tall) and and overdrive 10 speed.

So basically about a 2.28 final in OD, I would prefer a direct drive, but the ring gear would huge, lol We run lite so the only real problem for me is that I am in 9th gear when the speed limit is 60 or less, as you get down into the LOW rpm's the clutch in the Ultrashift can't figure out what it's suppose to do.

3.07 0r 3.08 is the same road speed, on a 13 or 18, in single over as 2.64 in direct drive. Hard to imagine a 10 with that ratio since 10th is equivalent to double over and 9th is direct, but I have seen weirder things in my life. I run in direct (16th) most of the time with my 2.64 rear ratio.

I'll be honest Cowpie, when I first bought the truck the first thing I had the dealer do was to swap out the 255/70 for 275/80's I did think that I would have to up the rear ratio.

But as I said we never gross over 54,000 and it has worked well, don't get me wrong on a long pull it may well drop TWO gears instead of just one, but because of the gearing my road speed always stays very manageable.

The setup has worked well, but just like you if/when I get into a steady 55 mph road like cali. I do drop down and run 9th which is direct, seems to work well, however, if this was a lower hp motor, I think it would be bad, I have just enough (small) motor to get good mileage but still pull the load without struggling.

I am normally solidly in the 9's at 65-68 mph.

I have a 2013 freightliner Coranado glider kit from Fitzgerald. I have the 500, 12.7 and I love it. with anything less than 25000 lbs I am getting over 8mph, with 40k, I am still breaking 7mph. I just love this truck. I hope you get it all sorted out, because when its good, its very good.

    Safe Miles,

    Larry

Wondering what problem was found with this truck and if the fuel mileage has improved?

Hello there.. If that is your green truck, it's the same one I'm looking at. Very nice! What do you pull? What gears you got in the back?
