Hopefully you will lose you CDL & all your driving privelages. -
Really?? You're gonna wish that on him??
Dude made a mistake. Yes, just like I did, I'm sure he knew better.
I learned from my mistake. This guy probably will too.
Like him, I got lucky and didn't kill anyone.
I'm glad that officer did his job and got me off the road that night.
You know why I waited a couple years to say anything about my eff up?
Because of posts like the one you just made.
Self righteousness is uncool and essentially useless.
We're all human and we all are gonna screw up sooner or later.
I lost a girlfriend to a drunk driver, and yet I still drove drunk.
I think you're a cool cat, Redd, but the bottom line IMO is to do like our moms told us.
If ya can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. -
O.K. as far as woulda, coulda, shoulda, he is past that. he did it, & got caught. he is not perfect. he made a mistake. it will cost him. he is not a worthless human being because of it. he came here being honest & humle looking for advice. those without sin cast the first stone. well it seems some already have cast the stones. let's help people who ask for it. constructive critisism is good. hateful remarks, I don't think helps anyone, especially any newbies who may be reading before they post anything. my advice is get a good lawyer the lawyer may get the charge reduces to a lessor charge. I wish you the best.
Strider, Scarecrow03 and larry2903 Thank this. -

The thing is though....
He is a trained professional driver! He knew better but still choose to drive drunk. I don't think he effed up... He wouldn't of drove if he didn't think he could get away with it.
How many times did he do it before he got caught? How many more times will he do it? How many times will he not get caught in his pick up before he feels confident enough to do it in a big truck? Who's to say he hasn't already?
I don't have nothing against drinking. But people know what's wrong & what's right. He knew he was wrong & he needs to be held to a higher standard because he is suppose to be a professional.
If he chooses not to be a professional, then he doesn't need to be in this profession. -
I'd had my cdl for over two years when I got caught in the Explorer I had at the time.
It's still self righteous.
You're right that we all should and likely do know better.
You know how many times I've driven drunk or buzzed since my DUI five years ago?
Zero. None. Not one time. I learned my lesson.
You know how many times I drove drunk before I got busted?
Too #### many to count, both before and after I got my CDL. -

As much as people would like for those days to be gone, they are not....However it seems that the days of that being cool or the norm is gone. It still happens though. Sit and watch the fuel island at most truckstops and look at the number of drivers, especially the younger ones, who are tweeking when they hop out of the truck.
As for the DUI if you didn't blow into the tube a lawyer will have a better chance of getting it reduced. I have seen many people get it reduced but will still cost you between 5 to 10 grand when all is said and done. Could be worse, at least no one got hurt. This is not the time to skimp and go for the discount lawyer. You need one with a proven track record handeling these cases. -
Strider Thanks this.
