My company had freightliners with 6x2 setup and the ECAS system. It was the Meritor system. What it does is when drive tires spins it's supposed let air out of the tag or dead axle air bags. That puts more weight on the one drive axle with power. It was not a very good system because we would spin drive tires even in rain at stop lights. The trucks even had axle lock button on dash. We found out later the air button on the dash did nothing. Freightliner or Meritor did not actually have axle lockers in the 6x2 setup

Why these companies buy this 6x2 crap and send it north in bad weather. Keep that crap on I40 and below. See those trucks stuck in perking lots with a little ice and snow.

BUT BUT IT SAVES FUEL. Latest and greatest marketing scam. I love the fact that my STAR CARS have power divider, and lockers in both rear ends. Had them for years along with auto chains. Those are fabulous.

Thanks dude. If you care to read my post - the highway were open, no chain laws were in effect - all traffic were moving - everybody - trucks, cars - but me. I guess I am the only one from all of them that were hitting ice...
