Most well designed trucks have additional cooling capacity from the factory so that when the radiator get blocked with bugs etc it wont overheat, but beware of Freightliners they have the bare minium cooling capacty and will get hot if pushed hard, we see overheating problems with stock engines in Freightliners. Out here the Stars and Kenworths have good radiator capacity and would have no problem being turned up.

830 is right, the exhaust temp if far more of a problem that the cooling system in a big horsepower engine.

Being new to high hp/tq diesels, dont you guys run into problems blowing ring and pinions up. Or are factory units pretty stout, Minus blowing u-joints and D-shafts.

Factory parts are made to take the full torque at lowest gear you have + some some idiot driver safety factor. You don't/can't use extra power at very low gears.

Diesel Injection of Pittsburgh is a very good company. I have ordered stuff from them many times and have had only one issue that they cleared up quickly. I highly recommend them...especially Jerry Ray.

Cat from the Valley, as far as the power thing I would have to say that straight engine power (the right parts and a tuned ecm) is better than the box any day. Don't get me wrong their box is a great product, but nothing beats a built motor. Also if you have a built motor and still aren't satisfied with the power you can then install the box for more gains. In this situation you will have a motor that will survive and you won't have to watch the temp gauges.
