Going on the training aspect....Roberts there to learn safe and proper ways. If the trainer is slacking in this area he needs a new trainer. I'd rather piss off 5 people to get a good trainer than suck it up and become part of the growing ignorant class of drivers. Different company but when I 1st started at TMC every wk I got a phone call inquiring how I was doing, if I was learning, liked the job, if trainer was doing his job, what we hauled and where and my miles. My trainer was a prick ex-military no disrespect. But as a trainer his attitude was on point.
Wish yall luck

If the sensors dont set off an alarm, have Robert take the paper off of them. Enough times and Im sure the truck would get routed to a terminal. At that point in person he could deal with the slob.
Sticking it out and not having him get his back side bit is ok but think of what he is not learning by sticking with this clown. Not only driving the truck but Im sure company policies are not in the works as well. Finding out the hard way on that could find him looking for another job with a black mark against him. Something to consider. -
I usually roll up a newspaper, hit him with it yelling "BAD TRAINER !! BAD TRAINER!!"and won't give him a cookie.

There are the crybabies that will whine over the simplest things. Then there are ones with legitimate complaints. You can't confuse the two.
Any company that feeds off of students doesn't do it because they are nice. They do it because it is profitable for them to keep labor costs down. With cheap labor comes cheap drivers.
I can almost guarantee you, your husband won't be working for them in a year. Then you can post your thoughts again. I bet they are right there with the other posters.
The trainer is a poor excuse why alot of things are they way they are in this industry. He is suppose to lead by example. He sounds like a miserable soul that has succumbed to the fatigue which leads to laziness in trucking. If I saw anyone placing a booger under the seat, I couldn't keep my mouth shut. That is just plain nasty. The trainer has a responsibility to keep company equipment satisfactory. Putting others down is to make himself feel better about himself. It seems many do that today.
With only a few weeks left, I would tough it out and keep to myself. Then after he is signed off I would give some feedback. If he was in the military, there is no doubt he can't survive through this.
I remember my trainers truck smelled like urine. I shampooed the carpet and cleaned the truck myself. Though she appreciated it, she got the message. Tell your husband to put on the rubber gloves. -
go work for schneider he wouldnt have this issue .... i swear people hate this company but at least they dont screw you in the training dept .. oh and your never with a trainer for more than 2 weeks at schneider anyhow ...its not run ever asa team ...one thing i do like about how schneider does business with training no other starter company does this ... if iwas ur hubby i would call the trainers boss and fire him ... raise hell and u will get a response usually ... dont even discuss it with guy who is the trainer ... always remember this much ... they work for you not the other way around ... with out the drivers no trucking company would exist .... trust me its very true ... anyhow i would be calling up the head of the training dept and lodging the complaint there and getting out of this guys truck asap
