Well, there’s nothing to fond out. You are contesting a ticket and in this country you are innocent until proven guilty (theoretically at last), so nothing goes on your record until you are convicted of it either by paying the fine or by plea of guilt. In any case if there was no dot inspection, I wouldn’t tell anyone in your company regardless of the outcome.
Need advice on speeding ticket in California.

I’ve never researched Libertarianism but I totally get why greed is so easily propagated in the legal system. It’s really a bunch of ego driven, weak, greedy men that couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

I got a ticket a couple years ago in the city of Atlanta when a car tried to pass me on the right as I was making a right turn .
The first court date on the ticket is just your first opportunity to plead guilty and pay . If you done plead guilty they set a second court date .
Same deal, at the second court date the judge offers repeatedly for people to plead guilty and “walk through that door “
i stayed there all day till my case got called and neither the cop nor the other driver showed up , so the judge dismissed my ticket .
In Georgia a traffic ticket is considered a crime , and you can request a jury trial for it .
You can also have the case transferred to a state court , which the cities and county’s hate hate hate .
If you move it to state court the prosecutor and clerk and judge are not on the same payroll as the cop . And if you move it to state court the city or county doesn’t get the money , the state gets the money . And the cop has to travel a few or a lot of miles to the state court . And the cop can’t control the court date.
never ever EVER plead guilty and pay and a moving violation without asking the prosecutor or judge ahead of time for a reduction to a non moving violation.
You won’t get a reduced fine , they WILL be getting your money , but they want the money em and you want a non moving violation, so it’s let’s make a deal time .
you can try this yourself or hire a lawyer .
If it’s a small town or rural area where you can actually talk to the clerk or prosecutor or judge on the phone , it’s certainly worth the time to call and see .
I’ve called to inquire about the fine and then when they tell me how much , chuckle and say “that’s not even a half a tank of fuel for me. The moneys not an issue , I can pay that , but is there a way we can work out a reduction to a non moving violation and no points , so I don’t have to hire a lawyer and take up a lot of y’all’s courtroom time ?”
And slightly more than half the time , they will put you on hold for a few minutes , usually to punch up your driving record, and come back and agree to a reduction .
I’ve also hired lawyers , and they always get a deal of some kind , usually a suspended sentence, where you plead guilty , pay the fine , and usually pay and extra fee of some kind , and then if you don’t get another ticket in that jurisdiction in the following 12 months this one doesn’t show up on your record and goes away.
the cop usually has his ego involved , but the prosecutor and judge just want the money and don’t want you taking up time in their court
And this system is how lawyers and places like “the ticket clinic “ get reduced charges easily
the ticket clinic will have all their clients booked for the same day, ask for all documentation and training records etc , and then put the cop on the stand and start asking question about his training and ask about the weather etc etc etc
They will drag out each speeding ticket for 45 minutes or an hour or more , and usually the judge will call the lawyer aside and ask if they plan to do this with every one of their clients and take up so much time , of course they do ! That’s the plan .
then the judge will offer a reduced charge on every one of their clients now and in the future , like $100 and no points or something .
the traffic courts are already clogged and if anything at all slows it down the judge and all the clerks will be working late and they do not want that .Another Canadian driver and rch10007 Thank this. -
of course even in a libertarian society you still gotta have traffic laws , but traffic courts are just govt extortion through fear and intimidation.
most traffic tickets are about collecting revenue .Another Canadian driver and rch10007 Thank this. -
I pay a monthly subscription of around $37 for cdl legal services. Also it’s best to contact them immediately after you’re issued your ticket. The process is easy just snap a picture of the ticket and send it via text or email. If you have question call them to ask and send a picture of your ticket/citation. & nope I didn’t tell the company I was driving for when it was issued I called cdl legal. I hope that helps.Last edited: Nov 13, 2022

Claim to the court that you're a border jumper and you should be just fine.

I'm not trying to say or to give an excuse.
I'm just sharing how this happened.
I was driving down hills Kern I 5 CA. the truck in front of me braking and dropped his speed I guess below 30 mph I was behind him speeding 38mph I started to feel I'm getting closer to his bumper then I decided to skip him then back to the truck's right lane again during my skip my speed jumped to 50mph then back to 40mph after I skipped him. it's happened for 5 to 8 seconds and this was enough for the officer to stop me over and write me a speeding ticket.
I just discussed it with the officer I explained to him how this happened.
I'm not sure if a declaration for this speeding ticket can help.
if you don't mind for me to ask. how much the fine did you got ?BillyBobFrank Thanks this. -
