AS i have researched the forum over and over again and have searched the internet time and time again iv ran into a unanswered questions and dead ends continuously. Please help if anyone has any info or advice pertaining to my situation or their own experience. Ok here it goes: Currently i am unemployed due to the fact of being terminated from my most recent employer as of 5-03-2010. I was terminated while on approved medical leave written by my doctor. My employer had given me fmla leave to use while having injections done in my spine. This is why i was unable to work because of severe back pain which was caused by aggravating or flaring up of my cervical spine. I gave notice to employer that i could return to work 6-01-2010. As stated above, they terminated my position 5-03-2010 because fmla expired. Understandable i agree. SO i immediately filed for unemployment and when doin so it was brought to my attention i may qualify for WIA grant. Well trucking is something iv wanted to do for years but financial hardships kept me from doing so. I now have the chance to get into trucking but need and want good training. Now back to my problem, iv been denied unemployment so i appealed it. Im on the 2nd appeal and waiting for the decision. From what iv been thru already im not optimistic or relying on a favorable decision. The WIA grant is only available if you receive unemployment. So if i dont have WIA, a family loan, bank loan, or VA benefits my conclusion is my only option would be to attend a community college that is accredited and accepts student loans or federal grants etc. Now, with that said iv tried to be clear as possible and keep it short and only include important details of my situation. Here's my point and question to all this:: I live in Kentucky, need to find a community college that will accept federal grants, student loans for CDL-a training. I have searched and researched with no solution yet to my problem. Does any of you fine people know where i can turn to. Or any experience similar to mine with a good outcome. It seems resources in Ky are limited and the only schools we have are independent or some are even tied into some community technical colleges BUT don't accept federal aid since the CDL course is to short of credit hours needed.
If iv not been clear on some of my points or seem to be misunderstood please kindly bring it to my attention as i will correct any misunderstandings or confusion. Again, id like to say this forum has gave me alot of powerful information and the experiences alot of you share are more than helpful. I appreciate any positive feedback. Thanks ozz
p.s. - btw i am fully aware of the "training mills" and training companies that require a contract to be signed to pay your training and i have read and been informed by several the catch to this route. Im not willing to go that route.
