Hey guys, I’m in Houston, TX I own my own truck and flat bed. I have my own dot and authority. Currently I am hauling sod for some landscape companies but work has really slowed down. I am thinking of upgrading my insurance to move freight. However I don’t want to leave Texas yet,(if it works out I’ll get an MC to be able to leave TX) would I be able to use loadboards or brokers to move freight from Houston to Dallas or any surrounding cities? (I don’t mind using my own flat bed or just move other trailers) Thank y’all in advance!

Yes. You can use a load board such as DAT Truckers Edge. If you join OOIDA for $45 a year you get a discount to DAT. I think the basic board with discount runs $32 a month.
There are free boards out there such as Trulos but I have not had much luck with them.

Sometimes there’s some good loads, sometimes not. It’s been awhile since I checked but usually it’s around $600-700 Houston to San Antonio, $800-900 McAllen to Houston. I’ve seen a few for $900 that were San Antonio to Austin which is like $15 a mile but they want you to sit and it takes like 2 days.

I would assume with low freight now it’s at least a couple hundred off that amount.

    Peter12235 Thanks this.
