I'm looking to buy a rig, but there's an issue. A few of my friends are telling me to buy any one of them European type rigs, they where telling me they have more power and speed then the average peterbilt or KW. But I'm not sure, those are pretty pricey, but they're telling me they'll last longer, and they are more reliable. But I don't know, please help!!
Need advice quick!!

I'm interested by what you mean by a "European style" truck. You mean Volvos?? Or are they saying you should import one.
If you go to Europe all you will find are cabovers and I'm sure you're not gonna go down that road.
As for speed and power, they're all pretty much the same. So there's no advantage there.
And if/when speed limiters kick in, thanks to those chuckleheads in the FMCSA then we are all gonna be in the same boat.
You just have to figure out which engine will serve you the best
as for Volvos, good luck trying to get spare parts. -
Where do the replacement parts come from ?

If you buy a Volvo or truck with a PACCAR engine you will be stuck going to a dealer for any engine work including finding out what fault codes are,,MHC Kenworth a mega dealer is charging $155/hr labor and they use flat rate,,no good,,Cummins today is the best bet many more shops that will work on your truck at labor rates as low as $65/hr.
If you buy a Volvo it will have no resale value same as most Freightliners,,in the end you need to be able to sell your truck.
95% OF used truck buyers first choice is a used Peterbilt or Kenworth..Turn3 Thanks this. -
European style rigs??? You mean those short wheelbase cabovers? I drove those when I worked in the middle east. They have little room and a really small sleeper. I can't imagine driving one of those things on our interstates. And getting parts would be a nightmare.

You can always try New Jersey. Quite a few Scanias there
