Ok first off I'm working for a local company, mostly drop an hooks, some hazmat. I've noticed not one truck has a safety inspection sticker, what happens to me as a driver? Another thing I must mention that the only training I received when I first started was 2 days for 5 hours for free I must add, an basically just showed me how to do the paperwork. No hazmat training or anything, basically just get in the truck an drive. Plus I'm running 13.5 to 14 hour days sometimes but turning in 12 hour logs???? Going back Monday but don't feel like returning. Shouldn't I received a 2 week course or something on transporting hazmat or securement, even though it's no touch freight I've never seen a load secured by anything so far, been there a month an so far so good however if ever got pulled over I'm betting that the officer is gonna have a field day with me.
Need advice quickly

Im betting you are correct about the officer having a field day with you.So why are you turning in 12 hr logs.Did you ask your company why doesn't the trks have inspection stickers?Hauling hazmat is not brain surgery.Use your judgement and common since whether lds needs to be secured or not.Hazmat does require placards so lets hope the shipper gives you the right ones. You company seems to not care much about the law and safety so why should you? You know what you have to do if you're not happy and worried so then do it,I know I would. No hazmat training should be the least of your worries right now.But before jumping off the deep end you need to ask your company these questions.

Do you have a hazmat endorsement? They are not obligated to "train" you. That's your responsibility to learn & know hazmat criteria.
I suggest you study & learn the regulations, especially on HOS, in regards to driving time and hours of service.
Being a "local" driver depends upon exactly the radius you travel. Any log violations are all on YOU, not the company.
I presume you are hourly paid? If so, you cannot be forced to work any hours for less than minimum wage. What is your employment agreement with them?
BTW, as for "securement", there is typically no chains, binders, strap securement hauling dry van freight.pattyj and Truckergirl0720 Thank this. -
What did you tell them when hired, are they under the impression you are already trained??
Hazmat is on you, logbooks are on you also, if the company tells you how to fill them out and you do as they say, still on you
No DOT will believe your say-so when your books tell a different story, if you are out of time then stop, I don't run local so don't know all the do's-don'ts but falsifying your documents because the company tells you to is a no-noLux Prometheus Thanks this. -
Just remember that if you have a Haz-mat placard load and do not stop at railroad tracks with your flashers on it is a $10,000 fine and they do hand these out in Kansas City. If the load does not require placards but is still haz-mat and you dont stop at the tracks with your flashers an it is still a $10,000 fine. The company you drive for will not mind and they will not pay yer ticked either.

§ 392.10Railroad grade crossings; stopping required.
(a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this section, the driver of a commercial motor vehicle specified in paragraphs (a) (1) through (6) of this section shall not cross a railroad track or tracks at grade unless he/she first: Stops the commercial motor vehicle within 50 feet of, and not closer than 15 feet to, the tracks; thereafter listens and looks in each direction along the tracks for an approaching train; and ascertains that no train is approaching. When it is safe to do so, the driver may drive the commercial motor vehicle across the tracks in a gear that permits the commercial motor vehicle to complete the crossing without a change of gears. The driver must not shift gears while crossing the tracks. -
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That's not chump change that's for sure.Think entering a no hazmat tunnel is also a 10k fine.I have the endorsement but its been yrs since ive hauled hazmat.

Most hazmat requires you to stop before all RR crossings. It's a DOT/FMCSA regulation, not a Kansas City or local regulation.
Railroad grade crossings; stopping required.
Oops,, my bad. Just realized you asked about the "flashers" only.
The flashers are not required when stopping, but a good practice to use at RR crossings when stopping.
That's the way I was taught and have always done it, for an extra safety measure.
