I'm sure there's a QC terminal near you they're always looking, I spent a year with them (chgo. Affiliate)
Treated well, paid well and no micro managing

I you are loading or unloading a tanker with hazmat you are not supposed to wait in the truck if you are responsible for the product transfer,go find an other company thousands of companies to work for,,

Well now I know. I do know that you're supposed to watch your connections. I was just under the impression that they did things differently because I was told by one of their employees to wait in the truck. I'm looking for other companies but it don't seem like there's thousands to work for

This is why I read the company handbook a few times and then every few months after. Alot of stuff I have been told by other drivers is not the policy but a shortcut or just sheer laziness.

Don't seal an empty tank or secure lid, shimming connections with wire seals, running the pump to hard, leaving product in because they don't wanna crank the trailer up...and sitting in the truck while unloading.

I reduce the risk of being fired by following the company policy...having little mouths to feed helps accomplish this.

Tough lesson OP and I hope you find employment soon.

Thanks appreciate it. Yeah this is definitely a wake up call for me. Now I know from here on out I'm out of the truck when it's offloading

You don't sit in the truck and just sit there. Unless they are physically loading you with hazmat or your dropping the trailer at a customer. It doesn't make you worry that one of your houses or connection could let loose?

I kind of feel bad for you but me being only 2 months in i have never done what you did. Even if the customer Unloader says guys that come sit in the truck or go lay down. Not me, he could just be trying to set you up. I always watch my connections and or walk around or sit down or lean on the trucks back end and just be in view. Anything can happen.

We loaded Acetone in philly. The guy said to wait in the truck while he loaded it and that's what he did with the other trucks in front of us.

Thanks. But what's done is done. I live and I learn. But now I have to land back on my feet immediately. Have a family that I have to take care. I do want to stay in the tanker outfit but I have to be home everyday and definitely need adequate pay. Any insightful info would be greatly appreciated. Definitely feel like I let my wife and kids down

You can try QC but I'm pretty sure that terminal isn't union.

As far as letting them down, you could move to albany, ny area and get on with QC and the teamsters. That's where I'm at.

Or NJ does have a lot of chemical company's or tanker outfits I wish you good luck!
