I left QC for Allchem and QC wasn't feeling that because from the Rahway yard a lot of drivers leave QC and go to Allchem. I left because I couldn't continue to work with Jackie. They finally got rid of her after she chased a few drivers away. I'm looking and I haven't been seeing much for Jersey when it comes to tanker outfits. However I can't give up regardless just hoping to find something by next week. Thanks
need advice. was let go by allchemical today. don't know which way to go

What sucks is that the company that banned you brenntag is a good outfit to drive for at least around hear. Most chemical plants and customer's don't want you touching anything but keep an eye on the process just incase. It's like your not liable but you kind of are hahaha.

Photo implies he's sleeping drivers, big no no in chemical plants. Typical knee jerk reaction too from the carrier but ok, is what it is.
Here CB, feel good, In the early days I worked for a small refinery picking up waste streams , I also spun discs at night and rocked the dock so I was burning the candle at both ends. Life was good.
Here I am one day at Rohm and Hass loading, and I fall asleep at the wheel figuring i'd catch a power nap....nope ! Anyway it comes out the top and runs down the driveway, fills the containment and overflows into the rocks.
Yep I was fired and banned but learned from it and it never happened again. Stand tall and start looking, your needed elsewhere copy?
Good luck! -
Here's what the Feds require. CFR Transportation 49 parts 100 to 177 177.834 (i) (3) A person "attends" the loading or unloading of a cargo tank if, throughout the process, he is awake, has an unobstructed view of the cargo tank, and is within 7.62 meters (25 feet) of the cargo tank. But there's a catch all you maybe able to use when seeking your next job. The same 177.834 but (i) Attendance requirements. (1) Loading. A cargo tank must be attended by a qualified person at all times when it is being loaded. The PERSON who is responsible for LOADING the cargo tank is also responsible for ensuring that it is so attended. Later on in the requirement it does explain what a person needs to know to be qualified to be person. The main point on this requirement a person must be able to move the truck and all the safety items on the truck. If you were empty and waiting to be loaded then it's their responsibility to provide an attendant. Other wise it's a big judgement call if it's legal or not to be in the cab. Some will try to stretch the requirement and say yes and some will say no. I believe it's too far of stretching and say no. I don't believe you could reach the safety shut downs quick enough while you up in the cab. I believe that company was looking at you while your hands were in your face and will say you were sleeping. Not a good situation to be in. Good luck.

You never know for sure if this is going to get out to the world. If it does then you know as well as anyone else what your chances would be. If they ask specific questions you must tell the truth. I do know that knowing the requirement for attending a vehicle when loading and unloading would be a huge plus in your favor if done right. If you are being interviewed and they go to asking you questions about this just say you understand the requirement as stated in the CFR 49 Subpart B 177.834 and you felt you were following the regulations.
I suggest you go and buy this publication (you'll have all the info you need for hazmat shipments) at a truck stop or at J.J. Keller & Associates, INC I-800-327-6868. During any interview don't come across as being boisterous and blaming others. Just calmly interject that you thought you were right in accordance with. If they do not want to check the requirement then I wouldn't want to work for that company anyway. If they are a company worth working for then they would check the requirement later on and at least believe they have a driver with extra knowledge on him. In other words, a good driver. -
And /or if pressed in a future interview say you were told to wait in truck. Just remember, if the interviewer is pressing the issue then he knows or has been told something in reference. He's checking to see if you will lie.
If your sitting in front of him then the job is yours to lose. Lots of people don't get that, they do the app. and get a call to come in. The company is not calling you to visit, they are calling because you meet the requirements and have the experience they will accept. The interviewer is very likely authorized to move you along in the process.
Last thing, be sure your have seen your DAC so you know what the interviewer knows then read my second paragraph again.
Good luckwsyrob Thanks this. -
